Ah, Jamie Durbin. Scored the last try in the very last (first class) game at the good old zoo in 2003. And it was against New Zealand ! (well, NZ 'A' ). Whatever happened to him ? I thought he might go on to greater things - perhaps he did but he didn't remain at Wire.

Was that the third very last or fourth very last game at Wilderspool?

Like most of our players, the best team he ever played for was us. Widnes -> Rochdale -> Leigh -> North Wales Crusaders.

The only let down from these lists obrian he didn't make it despite coming thru whilst we have the current youth development and set up. These players have succeeded under today's set up at Warrington

Tut, tut you cynic. Although the club did milk the closure somewhat, and the Guardian had a bit of a field day with loads of piccies (fortunately the toilets in the Fletcher end didn't feature). Or am I thinking of the last SL game against Wakey ? Anyway, it was definitely Durbin that scored the last try, and clearly it set him up for life if he went on to play for Widnes as Wires 71 points out.

Gary Hulse also played in that game.

Keith Holden?

Perfect replacement should be the legendary michael sullivan.

Surely that's unfair. Am I remembering the past through primrose and blue tinted glasses? ... Wasn't the combination of John Woods at 6 and Keith Holden at 7 one of our better ones and if I remember rightly Holden was actually selected for GB but then suffered a serious injury.

If we are suggesting a back may I offer Steve Diamond for consideration

Keith Holden was an excellent scrum-half, a bargain for £10K and a fine clubman. His partnership with John Woods was one of our best of the modern era, albeit short-lived. I'd kill my grannies budgie to have a genuine scrum-half like him in the team.

Greg Mackey please

A pot hole in Swinton did for his knee, and career. He was a superb prospect.

Allan Langer still looks like he can still do a full eighty when he is running the water for Brisbane/Queensland. In fact he usually does.
