| Quite, quite spiffing.
A tremendous effort from 1-17 as well as the coaching staff (Agar out, Agar out).
You couldn't pick fault with any of it (bar their scruffy tries), from Russell's brilliant kick returns, to Penny's exemplary high kick catches. From Hill's charges forward, to Ratchford's industry.
To score 28 unanswered points is superb, but to keep them scoreless for around an hour is EXCELLENT.
I was always confident at half-time, but THAT defensive stint on our own line for about 6 or 7 minutes in the second half, was the stuff of what good sides are made of.
I had a few bleats about Thaler, but he kept the game flowing. Well done.
That's the best I've spent with a £20 note, since buying a bottle of Islay malt from Aldi.
Superb, but then again, you should never lose to a team containing Patrick Ah Verage
.....and finally, Sandow. He's a bit good, i'nt 'e?

He certainly is and I agree that defensive effort was top drawer 5 or 6 sets? If they'd had gone over then......

| Herculean effort 1st part of the 2nd half, 5 or 6 sets and they couldn't break us, Brown would have made a huge difference today but I'm not complaining.

| Best side won on the day, thought your defence was very good all game not just the 10 min spell in 2nd half. Not sure about scruffy tries though. See you in a month for the return.

| Real shame about Russell though. He's been one of our standouts this year but he can't seem to string many games together. Hopefully not a bad one but he definitely won't play Monday, gives Johnson a chance though and I'm sure he'll do a great job for us.

| I thought there were periods when we seemed a bit disjointed as if not everyone had read the script & thank God for Sandow for putting us back on track.I think the big difference came when our forwards started to get on top in the second half probably helped by our improved fitness this season. A good, flowing game though & well done to both sides.

Wouldn't be unhappy with Johnson but could be Penny to FB Ormsby to wing?

Johnson for me, Rico.
I've never been a fan of "he can play there" type of players. If we have a proper fullback (which we do) then he should play.

I think Ratch could be fullback, moving to hooker and Johnson on bench coming in at full back.
Depends what threat TS feels exists with the big Hull pack. He could bring Philbin or Julian onto the bench, or even both and rest one of the props for the Wigan match.
Then again KR's tactics of getting the ball out wide early on almost worked so Ormsby could get a look in.
Typically I'd go for minimal changes, except it's Easter..... with Wigan on Friday.

| With no Dwyer i think Ratch will stay at hooker.
Johnson for Russell straight swap or Gids to 1 and Patton at 6

Not necessary given the other personnel we have

| Shout out to Jack Hughes who again got through a ton of work in attack and defence. Daryl Clark was also immense today. Him, Ratchford and Russell from dummy half were brilliant. And while I'm on, well done George King - another strong performance. Just trying to focus on the less obvious superstars for a bit!

| ....at long last, the Penny haters are no where to be seen.
I've loved the lad from the day he took the mickey at Leeds in 2006. Sheer excitement.
I've had to bite my bottom lip when I'm stood next to a hater, spitting beer out of his mouth when Penny's knocked on/missed a tackle (you'd think he's the only Wire player ever to have done such things).
His defence has improved. His catching is as good as any full-back in SL. He still has his greatest weapon, speed. He scores brilliant tries. I've NEVER got the hate for him. Still, as we all know, some people HAVE to have a scapegoat. Wouldn't be the same without 'em.
Keep on improving, Kevin.

The biggest improvement in Penny for me is his ability to clear his line and make yardage. His leg drive and body position is really good and I can't remember the last time he got pushed backwards. He has always been great under the high ball and I've also got a sneaky feeling he could play in the halves at a push

| Someone mentioned it elsewhere about Jon Clarke's contribution. Well today I thought it really showed. Widnes were puffing like good 'uns with around 20mins to go, whereas we looked like we could have done another 40, a testament to good conditioning. Also for what it's worth, I thought Gidley just nipped Sandow for MoM in my opinion. Great all round performance apart from their tries which were a bit sloppy. Happy days

| As someone who has never played RL at any level other than in PE at school, I've nothing but admiration for the likes of Penny, Russell, Lineham etc who made those catches today. It would have frightened me to death.
