In association football do the middle section of teams who won't get into European places and have no worries about relegation have 38 dead rubbers a season?

There's a lot to play for: making a good show of ourselves, not finishing 8th, getting younger lads used to playing in the first team, getting Sandow settled in...

We need to use a good end to this season even if we're not getting into the Play-offs. I don't think a single one of genuinely believed we were going to get to Old Trafford this season anyway and I've never really been confident about even getting into the top four.

We aren't good enough. We aren't failing, despite not playing well. We're comfortably the 6th/7th best team in this competition and that's where we'll finish.

None good enough anymore for Warrington and three not good enough for super league. Atkins tries but just doesn't have the brain for a centre and his athleticism is no longer enough to cover up for that.

Add in more here. The only guys with any merit tonight are Sims, Hill, Myler and Penny (for effort, not skill)

Our season is over with five games to go..........(sky have said that during tonight's commentary as well..so it must be true.)

I'd argue that at the minute they are far from dead rubbers. Win all five games and will probably finish in the top four. Problem is winning all five games - it simply isn't going to happen.

its a difficult sell isn't it? There will be 6500 for the Wigan game...and Wigan will bring 3000

The only way I would go to another game this season now is if smith resigns and Michael Monaghan is made first team coach.

We've lost 13 games out of 25 and a slow, painful wind-down to the season is no less than we deserve.

Play with less pressure, integrate some of the younger lads like the King bros who've looked out of their depth at this level into being comfortable in the first team, get Sandow settled in properly, finish as high up as we can, sort some things out for next season.

Every minute does matter. Each time we've had a lethargic defensive line, each time we've missed tackles, each time we've executed poor plays with the ball throughout the season every one of those things mattered and have come to a head now.

So let's make the rest of the minutes count for the reasons I first mentioned.

Struggling to win 1 game at the moment let alone 5.Confidence is shat so will probably lose all 5.

I wouldn't put it past us to do just that, upset a few and end up narrowly missing out on fourth due to points difference or something.

I`d play a lot of the younger players for the remainder of this season to enable them to gain more superleague experience, i`d tell the senior players who are going to be at Warrington next year to take an extended pre season break and more importantly, i`d take a "Long Hard Look" at the appointment of Richard Agar, i dont think it is any coincidence that the alarming slump in performance/tactics/structure etc, coincide with Poachings exit and Agars appointment! He`s simply "Not Good Enough For Warrington RLFC!!!!!!!

Agreed, what on earth have these players contributed to the team this season, its sad to say, but they are simply "Filling Shirts" whilst "draining the Cap" this year!

Are you suggesting a top 8 playoff would be more credible so teams that lose nearly half their matches can be still in with a shot of being champions?

I remember Phil Clarke getting rubbished and being slagged off on this very board for daring to suggest much earlier in the season Dire had 'no chance' of getting to Old Trafford.

The Sandow home game isn't going to be a draw like the Johns one was. Then again Sandow isn't a tenth of the player Joey was.

Can add Evans to that list. At full fitness wouldn't break into a Leeds, Wigan or Saints side. Neither wood King if we are being honest.

It would have taken a good coaching and excellent recruitment to handle a seamless transition from that ageing side but brilliant side of 2011 into a new one. Results seem to show we have had neither. Unless we revitalise our pack 2016 won't be much better either.

so you cant sell those final five games to me .....? and now people are suggesting for a chunk of the remainder of the season we play all the kids because the rest of the season doesn't actually matter.........

I'm criticising the tag line ...."Every minute matters"...........its not really worked out like the RFL suggested has it...... its been a steady top 3 with two sides battling it out for fourth spot......

its just been a bigger pool of teams trying to escape relegation...... how that makes a good competition im not sure, when what weve got is the majority of teams just trying to be the least .

the aussies must be scared while they continue with the top 8 format.... imagine how good their league would be if the panthers, the knights and the Titans etc....now had to go and play against lower league clubs....?

Wires have been a disgrace this season and its also a formula.......thats all I wanted to say.....
