Funny you should mention this, but I'm keeping quiet, it's not fair on the player involved who was just out enjoying themselves.

Talking of the subject though; I do recall one drunken evening trying to get Graham Appo into that club that was round the corner from Waterfields bakery. Bouncer wasn't having any of it, because he was a Saints fan.

Best one though was being ordered jokingly by Martin Gleeson to guide a few players to a bar in Perpignan first time we played there. Ended up going to an Irish bar; I was texting a girl I liked and Benny Westwood nicked my phone and text her for me; she didn't believe me that the message came from him, especially considering the content of it! Also recall having a drunken chat with Richard Silverwood about getting into refereeing. Was a very good night that!

Simon Grix was in the stretton fox on friday watching the saints wigan game, he didn't buy a single drink, he did however have a long straw surreptiously leading into his cast, did he request one with a secret compartment for a wine box? who knows, i know i dont.

He probably got a throat injury, sucking the wine up.

Well yes, not surprising given that we are so consistent in our win one, lose one pattern right now.

It's entirely possible that after this weekend, we'll be back on level points with Huddersfield. We could easily win at Hull KR, they could easily lose at Widnes (the reverse could also be true). Cas could beat St H, they might not. So, we could be all on 20 points or we could be four points away from 4th. Over ten matches to go though.

You need to buck up over the next few weeks or your final 7 games will be tougher. You could end up being at home to Saints, Wigan, Leeds and away to the rest.

It doesn't seem to make any difference to us whether we are at home or away. Apart from the two Leeds games and Wakefield, they have all been completely inconsistent within the 80 minutes (or even each half). Crazy stuff.

On a slightly more believable note, Scott Wilson is STILL in the mulberry tree. 16 years on.

This players drinking thing is always a strange one.
Years ago the culture at warrington was plain wrong - too many p155heads. (But then you also had ocassional sublime performances from Kelly Shelford in a less than sober state). Overall it was a problem.
Saints with Long, Cunningham, Sculthorpe etc etc were renowned for drinking yet thy still brought home silverware....

Modern game - yes the guys should be able to go and have a drink or two, and ocasionally get bladded, but as a professional it has to be kept in check.

In other sports the number of teetotal players is high - athletics, triathlon, tennis etc etc. (OK individual sports here, so maybe that's a key difference).
