Good to see the RFL have charged both Walne for his tackle on Chris Hill and Henderson for his tackle on Bateman at the weekend. Both could have ended up with the player suffering serious injury. Begs the question as to why this week it is illegal when it wasn't last week. A very similar incident took place in the Wigan KR cup game but nothing said.

Because it is the "thugs" that are the recipients.

I would like the RFL to review all tackling approaches personally, rather than pick piecemeal at specific problems. They should then state what is acceptable and what is not. ..... because it brings me on to one of my specific gripes which is lifting of the ball carriers legs. I have no problem with a defending player lifting the leg slightly above ground, we have seen it done loads of times simply to complete a tackle. What I hate to see is the leg raised well above say knee height. It puts the carrier in serious danger of injury from other tacklers around him , who may or may not be aware of what has happened. I am sure we saw that with Ben Evans and Chris Hill, and for me its a completely unacceptable risk that the RFL need to sort out ASAP - rather than fiddle around with that stupid obstruction rule that they tightened up last year, only to quietly forget this year.
