If Joel Monaghan is a natural captain I'm a page 3 model.

I watched him closely today especially when we had conceded a try and the players were gathered under the sticks. He didn't say a dickie bird and generally stared at the ground with hands on hips.

Unless he was instructed not to I want to see the captain ripping in and laying it down to the players or at the very least offering some encouragement. He did neither.

It can't be a coincidence that his form seems to have dipped this season too. He hasn't been a shadow of his former self.

I cant see how you can have a winger/centre being Captain, you need you're Captain to be a player to be in the middle, a la Briers or Morley. they can dictate and see a game develop from there.

Doesn't look fit either to be honest. Looked like an old veteran out there today struggling to get the old joints in gear.

I find it strange, because all last year he was de facto Captain in my book. He must be preoccupied with his own game.

Spot on last season Westwood went missing in the role and form as well. Mick monas ran the show when fit or on the pitch but when both not available Joel looked the real deal.

I too watched him closely yesterday he does not look happy at all. Interestingly I noticed bridgy barking at everybody yesterday is there a rift in the team ? I suspect there is .

Captain for me should be Ratchford, comes across as bright (for rugby) and he seems to be the one barking (easy Joel) orders on the plays.

Give the armband to SR, and in the close season find a leader of men, even if the guy is an average player.

Could hear Myler shouting a fair bit, but the thing that got me was Penny shouting to monaghan to drop back for the kick, the look he gave penny wss like who are you to tell me what to do. Finally he did drop back slowly and watched the ball go out tamely when if he had dropped back we would in my opinion would have been in better field posistion, something is deffo wrong in that dressing room.

FWIW thought O'Brien played better alogside Myler, ie in his natural position of SO rather than SH.

It was a nice story giving Joel the captaincy, after what he'd been through.But he isn't captain material.....He's one of the lads...

Phil Gould said he always tried to imagine his captain lifting the trophy to see if he was right for the job....its how he picked Buderus as NSW captain if I remember correctly.
That may may be an odd thing to do.....but I see joel more of a spraying the champagne in somebody's eye kind of bloke. ...rather than a trophy lifting captain.

Don't worry mate, there's no chance of anyone lifting any trophies here this year.

Totally agree, Joel is not the leader of our team, however, I think Ratch could be it at present.

Also, Chris Hill? He is our leading player on the pitch by a mile so surely he would take on the responsibility of being captain as he is joint captain anyway isn't he??

Bridge should not be barking orders to anyone as he should try and get his own game sorted.

The trouble with all and sundry barking orders is that no one knows what feck to do, in my experience lots of people barking orders is a cover up for individuals own failings.

Simply no skilfull half backs creating opportunities for him to shine.
