I'm sure most of us would love to see Mr Cronk at the HJ, the excitement and quality he would bring is immeasurable . Before today's game with the Bulldogs Andrew Johns did an in-depth review of Cronk. He is a consummate professional and would be a great example to move the team forward. We all know about his salary, however would he first choice for Australia and Queensland with Cherry-Evans looking more likely. This morning is the poorest I have seen the Storm play and the result was reflective of their season despite having their first team choice all on display. Maybe Cronk may feel its an opportunity to get a 4 year deal and a new challenge. Their champion team seems to be breaking up , Hoffman is off to the Warrios,The 6 Ben Roberts is off to Castleford. We need a strong leader, who would take the lead next year? Sims? J.Monaghan? The NRL press aren't letting the rumour go?

It would be a sensational signing but I will believe it when I see it.

We touched upon that the GOB u'turn looks a significant move.
Instead of a knee jerk reaction buying a stop gap hb on a 3 year deal, the likes of one that little makes any difference to our team or having to cough up a substantial fee for someone who would, if at all they would even consider selling, we hold out for the cream.

Cronk is off contract for 2016 and Storm have yet to snare him into another deal.
The noises in the last couple of weeks come from the right places, although I still couldn't see it myself, until I thought again about the GOB saga.

There is a lot of media attention now in OZ that wasn't there last month when I first posted about GOBs u'turn, much before Nosey Parker did I may add!

I posted in August about GOB u'turn, the oz press didn't get on to Wire interest in Cronk till the 1st week in sept.

There seems to be a interesting coincidence about it.

So Cronk was lined up as a new signing if Bradford got GO'B, but now the GO'B to Bradford deal has fallen through, Cronk is staying at Melbourne and GO'B will be first choice next year?

Or is it that Cronk was lined up but he's turned us down and so we've pulled the GO'B to Bradford deal?

Or is it that Cronk was lined up but he says he wants to do another year or two in Melbourne and will come over to finish his career with us when he won't be able to command as big a salary in the NRL, so GO'B is going to be first choice until that point then he will be released to allow space for Cronk.

Or is Cronk going to stay in Australia for a couple of years and then sign for Bradford like Matt Orford did when he was nailed on lined up for us a few years back.

Or....
Is it more simple than that!?

We have 2 options!
(a)
Knee jerk panic buy a HB from a limited stock for 2015
(b)
Get an off-the-record deal sorted that promises you a contract the year following from one of the best current player in his position on the planet and sit on it for 12 month.

Our history shows we have done this on at least two other occasions proven.
Just a fortnight ago one such deal was confirmed...Clark.
Andrew Johns was nailed on to come back to Warrington after finishing his contract at Knights. Moran was vocal upon the fact he was coming to Warrington, Johns was then instrumental to quickly get us to sign Monas as a replacement.

It's not at all that far fetched.

So we are getting Cronk for 2016 season?

Having people tell me this is a done deal (people that work for the club!), something tells me they're expecting a drop in season ticket sales.

RLW 'Mole' has mentioned it again tonight, however to be honest I don't rate him as highly as some on here. His scoops tend to be just putting something out before the embargo, he gets as much wrong as he does right.

Guess we can look forward to the same sort of post about "until its officially announced I'm not going to believe it" that we had about Daryl Clark for the next 12 months.

No not at all....I never said we were getting him.
I said someone has made the right noises about him, and he is far more creditable than the Mole.
Yed got me thinkin about the GOB u'turn I said had happened...why?
I tried to reason why within the space of less than a couple of weeks GOB is loaned out for a season and then he's not?
I tried to rationalise it by saying in one weekend he had probably shown enough in his form to merit it, but how could that be? It just doesn't make sense.
He's been here for some years and TS would know him inside out.
A promise of a big name halfback in 12 month does make sense why this reversal happened.

I don't say it's Cronk, it could be someone else. But that U'turn has to be significant.

Well Storm are out of the playoffs so if it is true, you'd imagine it'll be announced soon.

If we get him for next season I'll run through the centre of Warrington in a mankini.

I looked again Vespid_Wire it seem Cronk is on contract until the end of 2016.
So that's 2 years.
It looks less likely if that is the case.
