Sad news indeed!

I used to work as a barman in the Mulberry Tree in Stockton Heath. Greg would come in on Monday evenings (during his first spell with the club) for a quiet drink..often sat at the bar. I had many great conversations with him about Rugby and Aus....absolute gent.

A great servant to the club, I pray the drugs trial is successful. Good luck Greg!

This is really upsetting.

Greg Mackey is one of my all time Warrington heroes.

It is a very sad reality that serious illness can strike anybody, Mackey was an indestructible athlete, you never saw him miss games.

What an inspiring player to watch.

Fond memories as a player and as a personality. Real charisma on and off the field.

Thoughts with him and his family at this difficult time, would be good to hear some of the plans to get involved in the fundraising.

The 1st dozen games that led us to the top of the league and won us the Lancs Cup was all down to him and will remain a happy but sad memory at the same time.
Why Higham didn't offer him a contract I'll never know.
His 2nd spell wasn't quite so impressive but still great.
I wish him well.

A great player to watch when I first started going to games in 1993, skilful and creative, also very tough and reliable. It's extremely sad his cancer has become worse.

Sad too hear this news Greg was a great player, still remember him destroying Wigan in 1989/90.

One of the best half backs I've seen play for us - just not for long enough. With Ellis in the halves they were more than useful.
Small guy but very tough.

When Mackey embarked a plane to Blighty and asked for a trial, he was so much quicker than any halfback we had in living memory.
After his terms at Hull and the semi pro life he lost some of that sharpness but he homed in on his rugby brain and improved his kicking game to the best I've seen in a Warrington RLFC team.

Very sad, a fine player.

Remember him well.Great servant + just goes to show we all should live everyday as though it's your last as it can be snatched away from any of us in a flash.Keep fighting Greg.
