If it's all true, then it appears that they needed money and perhaps in haste they took what looked like the 'easy' option and chose to sell us their prize asset. It did save the club, but, there may have been other options available and now things appear to be better over there they wished that they'd gone down a different route.

Or do you subscribe to the view that life's decisions are based on rolling dice?

Several different sets of Cas fans told me that Clarke has signed for Wire with a 2015 start, so it's more likely than normal to be just a rumour.
