Its not on the guardian website as i can see, but the steward from the Widnes game last year was found not guilty of assault.
3 Key witnesses and the alleged victim failed to turn up to court to give evidence.
The steward in question claims he was assisting a colleague who the alleged victim was biting as he was being ejected.

They should be done for not turning up and wasting the police and courts time, the steward was out of order but something is amiss if they didn't bother to turn up. |

The lad who was attacked is currently working overseas so had no way of attending.
I find it strange that there was no cctv evidence of the incident, but hey ho, life goes on.

Who said there wasnt ? Just because nothing has appeared on U-tube.
The build-up/incident/aftermath went on for so long that it would have been on CCTV. However, this footage would be for the club, the RFL and the police to use. |

In those circumstances it would be very easy for him "to give evidence" either by video or through the CPS. Where the alleged victim physically was is irrelevant. |
