| Who do we think from this crop are destined to go on to greater things. Unfortunately I don't get the chance to watch this level...? Any future stars in there?

| My list would be;
Tom Walker (Prop)
Joe Philbin (BR)
Toby King (Cen)
Harvey Livett (Cen)
Jack Johnson (wing pref)
Declan Patton (SH)
George King (BR)
I would be surprised if the first four do not come through to the first team. Johnson and Patton have a bit more development to do. And there are some others that have made good ground over the last few months including Maneely and Wilde.

| Just for the record that was the worst Salford academy have played all year. They have a fullback who doesn't like to tackle and is frightened under a high ball. Their pack isn't bad but were made to look like small boys (Not sure how they get that big ). Finally the half backs were shocking.
They played far better than that against Saints Academy and conceded 62 so I wouldn't get too carried away if I were you.

where has anybody said about getting carried away? certainly nobody within the U19s set up has said that.

| I agree it was by far the worst salford have played, the backs seemed to play tougher than the forwards. That can't be good.. Must say though Warrington were very good. The big forwards had little in front of them however and the halves had all the time in the world to set up attacks, I do think they'll be up there come play off time.

| Talking about this age group, we were at an RFL meeting on Saturday talking about contracts for U16s-U19s players and it was interesting to hear them talk about the development and progression of players associated to their age and it certainly seems now there is a recognition that players may mature a lot later (look at O'Brien, Evans and Laithwaite). They did mention though that the highest paid player they have ever heard of when going from 16s to 19s is now no longer even playing the game so it certainly got me wondering who this might have been and at what club.

the player isn't playing anywhere at all, just wondered if anyone remembers the 'next big thing' from a few years ago at Academy level.

| Thanks Winslade, with a ridiculously busy job and a two year old boy it's difficult to keep on top of these things, I had in my head 2014 would be our last shot at silver wear for a few years with briers and Hodgson retiring. I'm now looking forward to this year for different reasons - not necessarily a trophy, but having some new names stamp their names on the squad. Yet still harbouring the hope!!

Micky Learmonth

Not sure if it's him but he was on a big whack when we signed him. I'm unsure if he is playing elsewhere but not heard anything about him for a long time considering he was THE hot property when we signed him.

Anthony Rourke or Danny Colquitt ?
Both played for England Academy in 2006 against one of the best junior Aussie teams ever.

Found the team for the game against London in June 2013 and he was here then:
James Saltonstall, Scott Turner, Will Milner, Toby King, Jack Johnson, Jimmy Rowland, Declan Patton, Robert Holroyd, Ryan Maneely, Tom Walker, Jacque Peet, Joe Philbin, Gavin Bennion. Subs: Andy Ackers, David Johnston, Micky Learmonth, Sam Wilde.
This was the U19s from last week:
Jack Johnson, David Johnston, Harvey Livett, Toby King, Ben Stansfield, Louis Jouffret, Declan Patton, Daniel Murray, Daniel Hirst, George King, Joe Philbin, Sam Wilde, Ryan Maneely.
Subs:Tom Walker, Alex Whalley, Robert Holroyd, James Jones.
The point being it seems now there is a recognition that players develop at all different rates and some are very late developing, hence the 'overnight success' of players like Chris Hill and Liam Finn. Dropping out of the top flight or from one of the top academies is not the end of the SL opportunity.
PS just checked, Learmonth and Milner are now at Huddersfield.
