| Does anyone know what is going on with Hodgson? Unless I have missed it he doesn't seem to have signed a new contract anywhere, or have announced his retirement from the game.
Just had a look on the website and he is the only departing player to not give a farewell interview. Very strange!

| There was talk of him being a 'marquee' signing for Keighley a few weeks ago. He never seemed to fully recover from the knock on the head he got against Widnes.

| I would love Brett to be a part of our coaching team.
Throughout his career he just had 'it' I'm still unsure what 'it' is but he had it. Created tries like a pivot, kicked goals for fun and scored some crackers. Don't know how a guy of his stature made it to the heights he did, but he defied science time and again.
I firmly believe he was the difference the night when Huddersfield ended our season in 2011, and if he was wearing blue and yellow we could have gone on to have a shot at OT.

| I remember warrington wolves foundation giving a contract to a couple who knew nothing about our club, to compose a club song.
The wolfie young supporters turned out to sing this new song that had been photocopied for them.
The reoccurring line in the chorus was "to see the wolves play in blue and gold"
The shame of it! Who was it who was responsible for that charade?

| Asked one of the Guardian's sports writers if he knew anything, very much in the dark. Apparently they requested an interview with Hodgson but the club declined.
The feeling seems to be that the Russell signing didn't go down well. I am told that was all sorted around the time of the Huddersfield eliminator, if you think back to after that game he didn't look a happy chappy and Carvell was seen consoling him. Then there was his wife's outburst on twitter after the grand final, saying we would have won had he played.
I find it all very strange because I have always thought him to be one of the nicest blokes in our game and just can't imagine him reacting to something like that. Who knows eh!

I think you're probably right, it would have been better if the parting seemed more amicable as he has been great for us since he signed, He was certainly a player I liked seeing in the wire shirt.

Agreed ...the twitter rant sealed his fate , along with earlier fall outs with the top table it is speculated.

| I don't think he played after the Widnes game. I was frightened every time he carried the ball up towards an aggressive defence that he would get seriously hurt ... perhaps the Tony Smith thought the same.

| What was said, his wife was mouthing off after the Grand Final saying we got what we deserved by losing because we didn't play Brett, and that the Club treated him poorly, even though we asked him to play in the Grand Final because Myler wasn't fully fit to play with his ankle, but Brett refused to play saying we treated him unfairly by giving Ratchford his position.

What is it about this that keeps coming up over and over again. Yes Hodgson is pretty slim to play RL but he has always been that way and has looked after himself against the best of the NRL for years never mind Super League. He is IMO the hardest pound for pound player we've had since I've been watching.
It's a shame there seems to be some murky end to his time with us and I hope he doesn't go away with that tarnishing his memory of his time here.
Hodgson was without doubt the best fullback I have seen at Warrington and with his reading of the game, faultless decision making and goalkicking he gave our team some great balance, he was also a very brave and committed player so IMO he goes down in history amongst the best of the best of Warrington players.

+1 Brett Hodgson was a brilliant player for us, I had my doubts given his age but my god he proved me wrong and I am glad he did.

We don't always see eye to eye but I think that is just about word perfect for me.
Can we not simply remember the player and what he gave the club rather than raking through all this sort of stuff ?

| Hodgson for me summed up the words 'man of steel'. The likes of Burgess, Morley and Peacock (rightly) take a lot of praise for being hard men of the game, but I think Hodgson was tough on a completely different level. The way he would get smashed down to the floor and just get back up was inspiring.
It is such a shame that he seemed to get a lot of unfair criticism from fans this year, we will miss him a lot more than people realise.

| Which are the fans who have criticised him ? I wouldn't take too much notice of the non representative bunch on here. Maybe Brett felt he had a justified grievance ,nobody really knows but the people involved.

| I don't see much criticism of him on this board. I think one or two members have misinterpreted some comments and this includes some of mine. May I make myself very clear ... I think he was a great player and a superb bloke. One of the best readers of a game we've had over the years. But I did often fear for his safety.
