| According to 'Love Rugby League', rumour has it the 5 shortlisted players for Man Of Steel are:
Danny Brough
Brett Ferres
Sam Tomkins
Danny Kirmond
Jamie Peacock
If those 5 are correct, who is your winner?

How on earth does Tomkins make the 5?
The other 4 have made their mark but on pure grit and determination it has to be JP.
Such a pity Brough wont play for England in this years World Cup.

I agree about Tomkins? He shouldn't be anywhere near the shortlist due to the amount of games he has missed.
I am not sure about Brough; he is top quality on his day but can he produce in the really big games? He has been anonymous every time he has played against Warrington.
If that 5 is correct then Jamie Peacock for me

He wouldn't have got in anyway what with McNamara's love childs Chase & Sinfield playing in the halves.
England's loss is Scotland's excellent gain. Looking forward to seeing Brough and (hopefully) Wallace tear up the I-ti's and the Yanks!.

Unfortunately he always plays well against the Rhinos!

I quite like the 'idea' of Jamie Peacock winning it, as he seems like a decent bloke that typifies what it is all about in a 'steel' sense, strong, a leader, influentual, honest....
However, do any of us have a real grasp of who should win it? Club loyalties aside, or club rivalries for that matter, are most of us not basing our judgement on hearsay? I don't watch enough RL to make that call even with televised matches and admittedly I haven't got Sky Sports, but, those of you that have, how many times have you seen Peacock play and by comparison Kirkmond?
Not a slight on any of the candidates on this thread apart from the obvious, but, we can't know can we?

| the simple way to do it is to look at the list and then think which one would you be comfortable with being awarded the Golden boot as the worlds best player...........
thats why I look down the list and say words similar to "chuff me" when i read Brett Ferres' name.......
Can only be Jamie Peacock as far a i'm concerned, anyone else and the Man of Steel award is dead

| Brough or Peacock for me. Wouldn't argue which. Both have there merits. It may come down to which team has what silverware that'll tip it one way or the other.
As it stands, Brough could be slight favourite.

| I see the Kirmond myth gains ground. Never has a decent game against Salford done so much for one player's status in the game.
