Quote Warrington's Lee Briers could leave when his contract expires this autumn in favour of a coaching role elsewhere.
The 35-year-old stand-off joined the Wire in 1998 after playing one season for hometown club St Helens.
He has since surpassed Brian Bevan as the club's all-time scorer, but has been troubled by injuries this season.
"I'm talking to a few clubs. It should all be finalised within two weeks and it'll probably include some coaching," he told BBC Radio Manchester.
"I've made no secret of the fact that I want to go into the coaching side with my next deal and I'm close to agreeing something."
Briers has made 215 Super League appearances and scored over 1200 points during his career, but this season missed several months because of a neck injury sustained in February and calf tear picked up two months later.
The former Wales international was given a temporary coaching role by Warrington in April after academy manager Gary Chambers was appointed Swinton boss.
"There's no definite decision on where I'm going yet," he added.
"The only thing I do know is that my boots will be well and truly hung up by 2015."'" |

Wouldn't rule it out you know. We have no stand off and a Grade 1 academy system for him to work in as a coach.

I would agree, I think he is looking for a trade - he will play for another year if he gets a coaching job at the end. I think he will be loathe to leave us, but it is obviously coaching that he sees as his 'life after'. |

KR fans in The Railway were going on about him as player/assistant coach at KR for next season, i thought it was a load of BS but they were saying he has family in Hull (does he?) and he would be there next season, i dismissed it but he was adamant it was as good as done deal already. Now i read this thread and think bugger.
I think i'll sob like a baby if he leaves.

Perhaps I could've worded my post better but I didn't mean Briers to RU, I was acknowledging that's the likely destination for Marshall, though no deal has been announced yet with any club.
However unlikely it may be, he's one of few players that would soften the blow of Briers finally leaving the primrose and blue. |
