the plan to finish 5th and win the grand final is going brilliantly.

In all seriousness i think most people saw this defeat coming.... we were very poor again... flat attacking line again, very little creativity, loads of dropped ball, stupid decisions from key players early into the tackle count.

The decision not to bring in any fresh faces for this season is looking suspect to say the least.

on the plus side i think these defeats and a few more about to come our way will help in the long run.

How has Michael Monaghan been this season so far? I thought he looked very limited tonight, constantly trying to pinch cheap penalties rather than being creative.

he hasn't looked great, certainly not the player of 2 years ago.... then again... only grix and myler have been playing well... oh and hill

Only change I would have made is drop Atkins and leave Reece in the Squad

We missed the work rate of Trent tonight. He completes intelligent runs and causes problems for defences. Still not to worry, I've only got to go to work and face loads of St Helens fans next week :0(

I actually thought M Monas had a fair game, at least he looked like he could put someone through a gap if anyone had bothered being on his shoulder every time he ran from acting HB.

How many of us were calling for fresh faces to be brought in in the off season?

Who was on the market that we should have gone for that would have been better than the players we had?

To say that was poor would be to give credit where it's not due.

Lots of errors
Back line disjointed. Backs receiving ball standing still, or the ball thrown behind them.
Forwards taking the ball up with no backup runners.
Poor kicking game
Monas was either unfit or still carrying an injury, and I suspect Joel might be as well.


TBH, I didn't see many positives at all. And I can see why Saints fans are so pessimistic as well. We looked like two mid table teams. I don't mind losing if the basics are done properly and the players are enthusiastic, but neither of those applied tonight. TS has a lot of work to do.

I'd have to agree with that, sadly. Chris Bridge was good, a very rare glimpse of incisive centre play but for the most part it was poor to the point of embarrassment.

Good for 50 mins but attack was panicked trying to catch up. Woody had a good game, so did Bridge. On the whole some good stuff but Winter blues. Warmer days and daylight games is where we kick on. Roll on summer, but keep the faith, we'll be there come Sept.

I don't want to write Stefan Ratchford off as a half back, but somebody needs to coach him how to draw a man (or two) in before passing the ball on - I was amazed at the amount of times he simply caught, and then immediately released the ball to the next man, without an opposition player near him.

As for the rest, nothing very positive to draw from the performance..... I don't want to make a knee-jerk reaction, but, dare I say, we looked a little old and battle weary out there, and we are only 6 games in.

I thought Ratchford was your only shining light tonight.

I don't suppose it's any consolation to you but tonight we were clueless tonight against the giants.
Could be a strange season, suppose we should all keep calm and carry on.

at the end of the day tonights result matters little in the grand scheme of things.... the durability of briers and morley is a non starter... both are older players that are injured.... these injuries will give other players first team opportunities.... win or lose our squad players are getting game time, which we, as fans have been moaning about..... no point in crying when we lose.

move onto next week and be thankfull we have a club will still be in the mix at the end of the season.

I'd be pretty embarrassed if my team won the GF but came fifth in the league. It would be like saying an FA Cup win is better than winning the Premier League. No greater test of quality than the weekly rounds, only the idiotic fan base (and media) in RL ignore it.

We are not going to win Super League from 5th. Forget that daft idea.

Leeds have done it twice in a row because they are seasoned playoff and Grand Final winners, and have the players to win in those big games.

With our shaky form in big games we need to be top 2 to have a credible chance of winning the playoffs, with home games and a second chance.

This idea that we will finish 4th or 5th and then go on to miraculously win the Grand Final is a fantasy that will come crashing down when we have our playoff exit.

There will be a lot of angst on here at the end of the season. It will be seen as the end of a window of opportunity and the forecasts ahead will be very gloomy.

At times the forwards really ripped into our pack.

But it does seam that the SKY philosophy of one team great the other team poor has caught on.

I think there has been an improvement in the league, meaning that there will be more upsets, like Widnes and Hull etc.

But all teams are building towards the end of the year and hopefully if it's a good year the balance of power will ebb and flow between teams.

4 points ie 2 wins covering the top 7 is what we want as a league. Going into a game not being able to predict the winner is what we want. I hope it continues even if that means we loose a few and fans run and panic to change coaches and teams as they are not winning 48 - 0 each and every week.

Myler was your only shining star. Was superb and really stood up and tried his best.

Ratchford will never be a #6 playing like that. Seems to be an obvious FB. Where is GOB? He seems the more likely to take over from Briers.

Atkins does not look the player he was last season. Was darn average (along with Riley).

Other than that you were ok. A poor start really cost you any sort of chance. You did well second half and closed the gap, but I'd still be concerned (if I was unlucky enough to be a wire fan) about how you don't look like scoring without Briers.
