I know what you are probably thinking, 'but he's the messiah?' and 'ISWT' and I realize where you are coming from but it is undoubtable that Smith is not as good as we think he is. You must agree we are being deluded by the hype. Just think, his tactics (especially in the playoffs) have been way off the mark for some years now. We need only look to this year.; we had a chance to get top of the table by beating London and Widnes, while Wigan had to beat Saints, and he threw it away to give us the best chance in the playoffs; which we have thoroughly failed in so far.

I think we can agree that it is true that he has brought Warrington Wolves away from the 10th position result he started us with but you must also remember that we have the likes of Myler in the team now (a player that, as many of this board have said, is not being used effectively in the team) and the whole club has a much better grounding and is able to attract bigger names. Why must we settle for a name we got when we weren't even playoff contenders. There is no sentimentality in sport.

Ultimately, I think you can all agree that Smith has done us a massive favour over the last few years to help us get where we are today but it is about time that we parted ways and maybe introduced someone fresh like Barrie McDermott at Leeds and Rush at Saints, in order for us to become a real contender. These are the coaches in Super League that show real emotion and, therefore, get the best out of a team.

The players did not perform anywhere near to their capabilities on saturday so they need to have a good look at themselves and make amense in the next few weeks firstly they let themselves down and secondly let the club down.

Tho saints played extremely well and executed their game plan well the same cannot be said for us we were dominated early on and panicked leaving us chasing the game from the get go. This is a massive knee jerk reaction and well out of proportion TS will not leave us without winning a GF and we will be in a good position when he does leave we have the financial means to replace the older players and have the most exciting young HB pairing in SL

Smith destroyed Leeds by leaving them with an ageing squad and a big rebuilding job for his successor, the three Grand Finals they won after he left were just papering over the cracks and making fans miss the real problems that were going on at the club.

He has done exactly the same with us and again three Challenge Cup wins have papered over the real serious and deep problems behind the scenes.

But of course all fans and the board see is the trophy count.

If we win the Grand Final this year all the mugs will be satisfied but it will mean another year of Smith, another year of no change, another year of failing to deal with our problems...

I am still of the opinion that the defeat was more to do with an exceptional Saints defensive effort and not a failing on our behalf.

6 and half a dozen. Saints' defence was incredible, but the longer we couldn't crack it the more we panicked and made mistakes, costing us more points instead of trying to grind them down.
