| Wow we lost 1 game against salford last night, but the knee jerking of some is ridiculous to the extreme. Last night i heard, "smiths a Knobead" "smith has lost the plot and hasnt got a clue" etc etc. Wonder if smith had lost the plot when he took us wembley twice, or we actually went into play off games expecting to win? I personally think the team we put out last night was good enough to beat salford as did smith, unfortunatly too many players had an off game and 3 returning from injury shown that there far from upto speed. Were still 1 game from wembley and still going to be in the playoffs so why all the doom and gloom over a one off humiliation at a half decent salford?

| There were some right idiots at the game last night. Two blokes went at half time saying wire are ! I know that's not the majority but it still annoyed me. People have become far used to winningand the second we don't play well there are some who will drop the team and leave instead of getting behind the players... Does my head in.

| What will I take from last night.
Well a long drive, a long walk, crap hot chocolate 'O' and watching my team getting snotted while looking over at the sideline to see which inspired substitution was coming on to the field to steady the ship and give the team a lift....... Tyrone McCarthy (not a personal attack on him at all he wasn't the worst by any means) my heart sank.
Unfortunately we were just too light weight and certainly in the first half and most of the second, totally void of ideas to get over the line.
Did we rest too many, in my opinion yes.
Are the young lads with a sprinkling of older heads (rather than the other way round) capable of winning such a game? We would all like to thinks so but conceding 48 however you sugar coat it would suggest otherwise.
Did Tone take a knowing gamble tonight, o yes, but he's not daft, he will have learnt a lot last night. Not only about his team selections but also about a lot of players in his squad.
Saying all this I think he's earned enough to put this down as just a slip and a well needed wake up call about who is and who isn't up to it.
Jack.

| The biggest problem last night was that at the time Tony rotated the squad, the players who were picked had a shocker. I honestly looked at that side at 8oclock and didnt expect a problem. At 10 oclock I could work out how many first teamers were needed to have won the game....i think even the best would have been dragged down

| what p*ssed me off was that people boo'd the team at the end and at half time...its not smiths fault that the team he picks (perfectally capable of winning) cant even string to passes together without dropping it or passing forward! there was no go forward from the props and neither halfback took control! i dont care what briers did but we need him in the squad, goes to show that our halfback pair for the future arent capable of performing together thats why we need a player like briers for one mor eyear so that both of them can develop into even better players that they are know

| Agree with you jack, in so much at looking for the older heads coming on to steady the ship, but jesus... I spilt half me pint when Big Sol made an appearance, it was embarrassing must have the biggest kench in super league.
And in defence go McCarthy I don't think he did much wrong, at leastthe bearded one, Chris Riley and Stephan. Solomona looked knackered before he got on the pitch!! 3 runs and one off load... Not good enough sorry...

| That team last night should have given Salford a good run, but how many of their tries came off our daft mistakes. Although I think he left out one too many.

| I saw this great post from a Salford fan on their board:
Quote I have not in the past been a great fan of Tony Smith.Despite him being very well thought of by Huddersfield people;those at Leeds and those in the GB/England set-up,and I have considered his interviews to be a little
'awkward'.
I now have the utmost respect for him as a genuine man as he made it his business to go to the side of the field at the players tunnel to not only go through a routine handshake but to make a point of seeking out each Salford player, giving a very warm, meaningful handshake, patting each on the back and saying a few words while giving the appearance of 'thanking' the Salford players for effectively giving a display of scintillating rugby league which he greatly admired and was privileged to witness.
For those players young or otherwise, having played internationally or otherwise,it must have been a very rare
moment in their careers, and memorable, when an opposition coach has conducted himself in such a manner.
From a guy with such an experienced and successful coaching career that must mean a huge amount and as it reflects on our coaches who have only been in post for 5 minutes - who have now beaten the longest serving Super league coach,Nathan Brown at Huddersfield, and Tony Smith himself,4 and 3 years respectively,I was delighted for them.
As an incentive to potential investors a greater demonstration could not have been bettered by our coaches and players.'"
I've always thought that TS despite coming over awkwardly sometimes in interviews is a great example of manners and how to conduct himself, I'd put him up with Frank Endacott and Mike Gregory for personal qualities as a coach
