| Is it just me or should we be seeing more of him getting more involved in games just seems to go AWOL and doesn't seem interested at times.

| I think you must be short of something to do this morning. Total rubbish.
What Joel lacks is pace but for effort and skill he's fine.

| I think JM is vastly over-rated. I'm afraid he is a one trick pony.
Last year he was doing well fielding the high kicks and converting
them into tries. That has now dried up, probably because the team
just aren't moving the ball out the same.
I agree with the other post when he is said to "go AWOL".
For effort, energy and positivity he isn't in the same league as Riley.
JM very rarely volunteers to get himself involved making the hard yards
from the line.
But, as long as he's there he'll get picked because TS is known to prefer
"big wingers". Thats why Riley kept being dropped.
Our best two current wingers should be Riley and Evans.
It was also said he lacks a bit of pace !!
Where on earth does the concept of a good winger who lacks pace come from ?
Any winger, given half a yard, is supposed to be able to go the length
of the field at pace. On this criteria alone, JM doesn't qualify.

| 10 metres out he's a fantastic finisher, he's never going to be a full length super winger but i don't care, i like his role and i think he does it very well.

| I've just said something similar of the Riley thread.
There stats are very close together but Riles tackle busts is far greater which to me shows he wants to get stuck in.
Its commented on there that Riles will sit out when Evans is fit, but for me it should be Monnas looking over his shoulder instead.
To throw another angle on it are wingers only as good as there centres???
Well with Myler injured we need to find someone else to blame!!

| I personaly do not think he will be with us next year !!!
he said after the AUS. trip that he would like to return to NRL and that he has a opt out clause in his contract at the end of 2012
so I think that says it all !!
but thats just my view

| I can't say I would be too upset if Joel has an opt out clause and intends to invoke it. He might give us a bit of height out wide, but, I don't think he is the best winger at the club and there seems no sign in a Matt Kingesque reversal of fortune and form anytime soon.
Not worth a boo though!

Do you actually watch any games? Have you checked his try scoring record since he came to Warrington?

| I do watch games but I must admit I have been totally underwhelmed, especially of late. After making a decent start, he appears to have lost interest in my opinion rather than kicking on after getting used to SL, his new team mates andf life in Warrington.
I must admit I don't look at the stats to form that opinion, as they can be misleading, again in my opinion.
You of may beg to differ, as of course you are entitled to your opinion.

Tries scored aren't that misleading.

| I think that they can be, but, hey ho we could go like this all day long, btw is that all he is there for? Does he match or exceed expectations based on reputation and paypacket which can't be the smallest at the club.
We are struggling for a bit of form all round at the moment and no one would be more pleased than me to see Joel amongst many others to turn that around. I just can't see it with him and judging by some other threads so can one or two others

| And presumably Tony Smith likes him and I will obviously defer to SL's best coach (not necessarily to you Mr Rocket) but I just want/expected a little more.
Happy to eat a bit of humble pie when he delivers.

| He's been on a par with the majority of the team, sort of 6.5/10
I doubt his form will drop so expect him to start throwing in the odd 8/10 performance

| Joel has clearly struggled, but I don't think he's one of the poorest, I just think his passport gets him more grief, just like Waterhouse's does. Let's be honest, Chris Bridge hasn't been in sparkling form inside of him, whilst Blythe has hardly been Martin Gleeson when he's played, has he?
I think some people just expect the world of some players even though it's clear we've been struggling as a team. Once form returns and Briers is lofting kicks to the corner, and Bridge is spotting the gaps and putting him away, everybody will be silenced again, lauding him as the best winger in the league.

| Alot of Leeds fans were wanting Burrow to be shipped to Castleford early last year but he turned his form around and played pretty well towards the end of the season. There is plenty of time for players to turn form around, which the coaches thankfully recognize compared to a lot of knee jerk reactions from fans wanting players dropped everytime they play badly.

| Joel was really up for it today and took his tries very well. I hope he continues in the same vein on a consistent basis from now on. He has looked a bit sluggish in some games of late.

Really? Is that why he used to pick Francis Cummins & Mark Calderwood at Leeds? I mean, they're both "famously" big wingers.
...then there was Marcus St. Hilaire when he was at Huddersfield, yet another "big" winger.
What you'll find is that he picks the winger he feels is capable of perfoming best - regardless of their size!
