| [uQuestion 1[/u
The iconic Yellow and blue shirt worn in the cup final by Mike Gregory/Bishop/Dessie etc
What material was the original made out of?
[uQuestion 2[/u
Did Wire have a royal blue shirt in the 70s with a primrose collar?
If so does anyone have a picture of it?

=#0000FFFor most of the 70's we wore the same Bukta kit as you describe with the large yellow 'W' as the shirt badge.

| Yed.
Q1. I've just got my 1990 Cup Final shirt out. It's Bukta in make and the label says 100% cotton. It's the Mike Gregory shirt, my all time favourite.
Q2. We had the blue shirt with the yellow collar from the start of the Murphy era. at that time replica shirts weren't the in thing, so I doubt if many people will have one. One who does is the lad who was the Mascot of the time who used to post under the name 'Warry Warry.' There may also be one in the medals/trophies display in the Main Foyer at the HJ. If you E Mail Neil Dowson he'll tell you if the Club has one.

If its the 1990 Challenge cup final shirt your on about it was a horrible material, after one wash the shirt went disfigured. It was like a heavyish cotton material but it sagged and went out of shape after washing it and you couldn't get it back to normal.

Rob. after 22 years of abuse mine is still OK. It hasn't even lost it's shape due to my increased girth.
I'm just waiting for someone to suggest you take it back to the club shop.

| Interestingly (for anoraks at least) regarding the blue shirt with the yellow collar worn during the seventies, the away strip at that time was the reverse i.e. primrose with a blue collar. This was the kit that was worn in the 1978 defeat of Australia. A night that will forever live in my memory.

I hated that 'W' on the shirt. It made it look cheap and nasty, obviously modelled on the Salford team shirt of the late sixties/early seventies which had an equally cheap and nasty 'S' on it.

| I didn't much mind the "W" even though it was a rip off of Salfords "S".
If my memory serves me correctly, for just one season in the late seventies a reaally smart Adidas kit was worn - Blue with a primrose collar and 3 primrose stripes on the sleves, the shorts and the turnover on the socks. At around this time Adidas also supplied Widnes, HKR and possibly Castleford?
Talking of big "W's" I can vaguely remember Wakefield turning up at Wilderspool with a massive white "W" sewn on the front of their shirts - which literally covered the entire front - it made ours look discreet!

| That photograph was taken at the scene of some of our best victories in the mid seventies, Central Park. Very appropriate. Some great Wire players on that photo, but no Nicko, must have been suspended that day.

Missing... Murphy , Bevan, Ashcroft, both Philbin brothers, Barry Briggs, Derek Noonan, Brian Brady.
I would say August 1973 before the Wardonian Cup at Wigan.

JC with you on that one, had mine for twenty years and used to use it around the house when doing odd jobs and painting etc
It was indestructible; wish I had kept it now!
