I read a few threads on others boards over the annoucement of the Hj not being a big enough venue for the semi final on saturday but yet here we are thurday and its still not sold out this was announced on the radio this afternoon looks like the rfl might have got this one spot on

Hardly suprising considering the fans of both teams. Weren't they calling for it to be in a bigger football stadium like the DW when the HJ was announced ? Good job the RL have got their heads screwed on, would have looked daft playing to a half empty stadium.

Saints fans don't travel, not even 10 miles. Example is their average "home" attendance this year.
Wigan fans don't like semi-finals. EG - 2009 @ Halton Stadium.

I've said this many times this season, but how many of your 11,000 would follow Warrington to Widnes for a season if the HJ was, say, destroyed by a bomb? I don't reckon you'd do much better than we have. Averaging 7,500 ish.

You also have to remember Saints have been in about 11 (?) consecutive Challenge Cup semi finals so there is no romance about it like there might be for a normal SL side.

what the op is getting at is the fact that wigan & saints fans was up in arms stating the venue should of been a 25k capacity for the game , and yet there is still several hundred tickets left for them two massive teams to play at that little clubs little ground in warrington

Embarassing for RL that two of the supposed biggest rivals in SL, biggest clubs etc etc are struggling to fill up our tiny stadium for a cup semi.

more often than not the north south & east is vertually sold out hence a lot of wire fans in the west terrace , also just like to ad we have a few season ticket holders in the west terrace as they prefer to stand behind the sticks .

whys that then,, people go to watch it in a rented football stadium !
