| for those that watched it tonight the new salford coach Matt Parish was questioned with ref to Myler he stated that Warrington should sort out their own players and stop keep coming to salford for theirs ratchford was mentioned in the conversation. I know we have been linked with him already but does this give us more of a clue he is coming to us?

| Parish said after speaking with Ratchford this week, that Ratchford indicated to him that he wishes to stay at Salford.
Whether he does or not is another question. It could just be the new coach hitting the ball back into Ratchfords court, or he genuinely wants to stay.
Who knows. At the moment, I don't really think the Salford fans are that bothered any more.

| Wow.
Amazingly e reaction to an innocuous post that just informed you of what was said. Wasn't expecting a great deal, and delivered on that score.
Cheers.
The Original Stevo, I was just mentioning the fact that most Salford fans have been resigned to the fact that he will go, and most have already 'moved-on' so to speak. An attitude of indifference if you will. Wire and Wigan in particular have been linked with him. If he stays, great. If he goes, so be it. That was my meaning.

| I've not seen the programme, but having read some of Parish's comments in the last few days, it seems the chap needs to get a serious wake up call into what he has exactly let himself in for, taking over Salford.
Amusingly, it seems he believes that Salford are on a level playing field with the Wigan/Wire/Saints of this world and that he hopes to convince players of this deluded belief.
Good luck to the fella with this mission, but if he is serious, I'm betting he'll be back in Oz this time next year, extremely disgruntled at being led down the garden path by Wilkinson, who has obviously sold him a bit of a dud proposition....

Maybe he's only been to the new ground and not the Willows?
Salford could very quickly become a big team if they could attract a crowd at the new place. Their youth production certainly seems to be producing more quality players than the likes of Warrington.

| I heard from a very reliable source the other day that Salford are in a bit of trouble financially... Apparently only a top four finish is good enough to make any money as otherwise you don't get as many sky appearances which pay out about 50k per showing!

I think the whole Salford ground thing has been discussed several times already, the consensus being that its a bit of a white elephant stuck in the middle of nowhere, which will probably only see a small increase in attendance, with those being visiting fans who would normally avoid the Willows like the plague.
That opinion could easily be proved wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Salford will remain a relative small fry in Super League, simply because they don't have the local interest to sustain a top level side....Most local kids are more attracted to Man Utd or cricket clubs, seeing as their local population is so Asian based, a community with zero interest in Rugby League.

Plenty more as well Stevo
Ryan Shaw, Ben Evans, James Laithwaite are all full time and will no doubt get their chances soon and Gareth O'Brien already has!!!
Anybody who can stay behind on Saturday after the first team game and watch the Under 20s will be able to see for themselves the talent that we have. Also the Under 18s are at home to Harlequins on Sunday, 2.30pm at Widerspool, and there is some exciting youngsters there as well.

| Sounds like a frustrated man. Personally i dont think we need ratchford, what with O'Brien, Briers and Myler, with Bridge etc.
Not saying he's a bad player, but i think we'll be fine without him, anyone agree?

Heard great things about 16 year-old Ben Currie as well, he's ripping it up in the U20s this season.

100% Dean
I just can't see how he'll improve us THAT much, and I imagine he'll cost us a hefty transfer fee, too.
In 2 years time (or whenever the fatefull day is, when Briers retires), if Smith doesn't fancy an O'Brien Myler partnership, he'll have got someone better than Ratchford
