Steve Hesford was a wonderful goal kicker. As a player Briers is a different class.

Statue for Briers!

Guardian report states Lee has just past the 900 goals, so the 1000 goals will be his next target I would imagine. Maybe Hodgson can give the kicks under the posts to lee to help him towards the target

Cheers Steve. Wire website says that Briers is on 2425 after tonight, so another 75 points would mark another great acheivement - taking him onto 2500 points.

How Lee has never been given the chance for GB is a mystery, look at the players who have been given the nod ahead

I can't believe how often you read this on here. Agree that with his ability he should have got himself more caps than he did, but I'm sure Lee knows the reasons why he hasn't.

When Nobby was on the Super Men show, didn't he say he had nightmares due to Eddie's "Briers for Britain" campaign? To me that suggests Nobby knows maybe he should have selected Briers to take on the convicts...

If Tony Smith had coached Lee for his entire career he would have a lot more GB caps in his locker IMO.

I reckon there's a good chance Briers will have the all time Warrington points scoring record for the rest of his life.

To break it you would probably need someone to come in aged 19/20, be first choice goalkicker and stay with us for his whole career. Not saying its impossible but how often do players spend that long with a club, say every decade you get about 2. The odds of them being a goalkicker as well are quite small.

hmm i have a question the record in question is it all points or just goals,reason i ask is this if its all points then surely lee asnt really beaten hesfords record as his was set when it was 3 points for a try?? hope someone can clear this up for me.

Hesford 1112 goals, 47 drop goals, and 145 points from tries, which must include some four-point tries as 145 doesn't divide exactly by 3

Brilliant player is Briers. The way he reads the game and his kicking game is superb. As you say it would be brilliant to surpass more records. In the short while I have been watching Rugby League, he certainly one of the best players I've seen, if not the best!
