Can everyone see how awful the atmosphere was today without the drums
that why the south stand need them

Thing is though, he's right. The atmosphere was absolutley shocking today. Easily the worst I've heard at the HJ. Why wasn't the drums there then? Very, very quiet.

So with the drums it would have been a carnival atmosphere?

That says to me that people just cannot sing/dance/make their own atmosphere unless they are prompted to.

Didn't we use to berate Widnes for that a few yeas ago when they had a person on the PA system try to gee the fans up?

Oh come off it mate. People are not robots, they don't need artificial noise to make noise themselves. If they want to sing, then go ahead and sing.

And if they do need some kind of gee up to make an atmosphere, then it's a very poor show indeed.

So do you not agree that it was a worse atmosphere than previous games this season and games at the HJ. I've missed 1 game since we moved to the HJ and can easily say that is the worst atmosphere I've heard there.

Yes it was a terrible atmosphere, but putting it solely down to the fact that there were no drums there is just ridiculous. We were playing Catalan Dragons, when has there ever been a great atmosphere at a Catalan Dragons game, unless we are playing in Perpignan?

Drums can be alright, as long as there at least 20 yards away from you. Also there usually played by chavs aswell so that doesn't help.

Atmosphere has nothing at all to do with drums....



Its all to do with what a team is doing on the pitch.....

Do you remember the electric atmosphere at Wilderspool when Bradford were putting 80 odd on us??....Yes, the drumming was a major difference that day.

Or the night at Wilderspool, when we beat a fantastic Widnes side in the Lancs Cup semi??...No drummer that night. If only we had the drummer there might have been a better atmosphere for that one?

Anybody stand to the west side of the south stand? Some knob shouting at the players all game. Doing my nut in.

I think an away following lifts the fans much more than a drum ever could.

atmosphere was flat as a pancake today... due to no away fans.

I know that drums dont make an atmosphere, but whether you like them or not it certainly helps, and when there is a better atmosphere generally players perform better. In the Salford-Crusaders game last night, we had a decent set of drums for the first time (thanks to wire fans) which really did help. Yes us Crusaders fans always are in good voice to be fair, but the atmosphere wouldn't have been the same without the drum. In modern stadiums now it is hard to make an atmosphere and a better atmosphere is made in open stadiums when you are standing up, but you always need a drum!

not being funny but i was really considering not turning up today as where a few people because home games really are that bad now since we won the 2 cups because the south stand is now full of glory supporters that dont sing, good job we can still get a decent atmosphere away from home. we didnt bring drums today to prove a point of how it would be and was.
