| Has anybody noticed that the game against Leeds has been moved thanks to Sky. OK, they have only pulled it forward by 1/2 hour (5.45 instead of 6.15) but I'm sure that means that some fans will be making a mad dash to make kick-off.

| Up until the end of March all of the Saturday Sky games are 5:45 kick-offs. It's not just our game that has been moved.
I'm sure a number of people will like it as they'll either get home earlier or out to town earlier.

| Us amateur rugby league players are the ones making the mad dash too. Suprises me we dont get more chance. If were playing away in blackpool for example we wont have much of a chance of making it. Frustrates me as a player/fan

| Damn those Sky people for moving a fixture back half an hour. I mean, what have they ever done for Rugby League in our country,................................................. except invest millions of pounds into our sport over the last 20 years, which has enabled Warrington people to enjoy the skills of King, Monaghan (x2), Langer, Nikau, Gleeson, Fa'afilli, Hicks, Swann, Bridge, Briers, Eagar, Johns and Kettlewell.......................I mean, what have Sky ever done for us

I agree, why don't we tell them to love off, and take their money with them. We have enough of our own.
We'll just play wigan and leeds every week.

They don't do it for charity... or shets and giggles. They do it for the cold stuff and I think they get more than enough back for it to be worth it.

No pooh, Sherlock
BUT WHERE WOULD OUR SPORT BE WITHOUT SKY'S MONEY.....................BANKRUPT
WRLFC were surviving on average gates of 4500 before Sky came in with their cash.
Before their money, we've barely had an overseas starlet since Les Boyd
SKY GET THE SQUARE ROOT OF BUGGER ALL BACK FROM RUGBY LEAGE FAN'S MONEY, WE'RE JUST THERE TO FILL UP LISTINGS TIME, LIKEWISE PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS, SNOOKER, RACING, TENNIS, GOLF etc. The majority of Sky subscribers are there for the football. We are very lucky to have Sky's money.
Ask yourself a question? If Sky hadn't have come in with the money, do you think the HJ would exist.....?

So far how would Sky have to go for you to criticise them?
It does sound like you work for them.

I'm guessing not as far as moving a game that was scheduled for mid evening on a saturday to early evening on the same day.

That doesn't bother me.
It is when they change the day completely like they did last year with the Saints match. Makes a mockery of the whole point of the last game of the season.
My problem was, you can't excuse the stupid things sky does by just saying they gave us so much. They aren't doing it for charity.
I will clap them when they do something right and i will call them out when they are wrong. As is they way with any business. For example, the new opening to Super League on Sky is dire. However, Phil Clarke doesn't seem as Wigan centred as usual.

how so? i feel that you just enjoy an argument JD, our game would not be as advances as it is without SKY, and therefore if they want to change the time of a game by half a flamin hour they can do!

forget the bit on bold. I don't care that they have changed it by half an hour.
This isn't an argument and I'm not going to argue cause I don't really have an opinion on it. I have bigger grievances with the execution of rugby (although they are with the RFL)
My point was, and you will see in my first post, that just cause they give us the money that they do (which isn't earth shattering) it isn't an excuse for them to take the place of the RFL, which they seemed to be doing at times last year.

no but they are the ONLY people who pay us for these games, and they have the right by doing so, to move the games to fit with there scheduling, we get a great spot on a friday night and also a good one on a saturday, so as i said, they are the ones who pay for the right to screen the games, which is what we as fans want, and they are the ones who then have the right to go and say to the rfl, look how do you feel about moving these games forward or backwards by however long, and the rfl then say yes or no, (generally in a quibbling manner they will say yes). but at the end of the day, this what sky pay for, no matter how much they pay!

Conceded. I don't mind too much when they move games by half an hour.
I was a little bit miffed last year when they moved the games about so Wire finished on a fizzle at Quins and Saint's new what hey had to do at Cas. Was disappointing. I would like to know how many games Sky moved last year. Bearing in mind they only show 52 (I think discounting MM) during the regular season. I can think of a couple off the top of my head. I feel for the people that buy a ticket and then are forced to miss the game cause sky have moved it. Additionally, last year they waited till very close to the game, after people had bought tickets to move them.
I would also question why Sky move so many games.

| In answer to a couple of earlier posts, I don't work for Sky. I dont particularly LIKE Sky (even though I am a subscriber). If the franchise to screen live RL matches went to another broadcaster, I would cancel my subscription tomorrow ( just don't tell Goldblatt jnr, she'd cry for a month if there was no more Imagination Movers to watch on 611).
The simple fact remains, we (UK RL fans in general) owe Sky TV a massive debt of gratitude, with their input of money and subsequent exposure of our game.
To those of us watching the game before 1989 (when Granada started screening RLLive), they'll remember the BAD old days of Grandstand, whose live RL coverage in the early and mid 80's, was
Lancs & Yorks Cup final live
JPTrophy & Challenge Cup (upto and including quarter final) 5 mins highlights of the 1st half and 2nd half live
Then the semis and final live
GB Tests live
and that was it
Sky give us 70+ matches, the money to buy the cream of the NRL, and people whinge about a fixture being moved by half an hour. Unbelievable!!!!
