Warrington Wolves academy players will travel to the Spotland Stadium tomorrow night (Wednesday 26th January) as part of their season preparations taking on Rochdale Hornets.


The game kicks off at 8pm with tickets priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions/juniors.


Wolves fans will get to see a combination of England academy players alongside many stars of the future from the u18s and u20s sides.

Dont know why I asked the way I did, good on you really for making the effort.

Been to the game tonight, lost 28-26 but not a bad effort. We were 14-0 down after about 20 mins so lads did well to come back and led until 5 minutes before the end. Evans brothers, Laithwaite, O'Brien all started on bench but came on. Hat-trick for Ryan Shaw. Scored 6 tries but only converted one, that is what cost us!

Matt King and Willie Poching in the stands, as was Bobbie Goulding watching Bobbie jnr, who started at 7 for us.

About 50 wire fans went and on a cold night, probs fell that we deserved to win. Rochdale were not impressive and had some overweight players to say the least.

Bring on sunday then the real thing!!

yes, he started on the wing then went to full back, had a solid game. nothing spectacular. Thought Ben Evans looked handy!

If we were that over weight and bad what does that make your team after all we did win the match and most of the lads had been at work all day to.These lads are suppose to be your future stars, fit and healthy profesional players your future dosnt look to good if what you are saying about them being beaten by a team of overweight unfit players.
I myself thought it was a good game with good showings from both sides in ice cold conditions handling was good and our kicking game in the first half excellant looking forward to the season ahead.
Good luck for your season lets hope if we cant win it you do the hatrick of cup wins.

1.it our academy, they are talents what are not produced to their potential
2.it was your first team and we should of one except for missing conversions (i know still a loss)
3. we will just have to wait and see but i bet you most of our academy would get into your first squad.
4. trust me on this our future is a whole lot brighter than yours!

think you will find the best under 20 players were left on the bench... alot of the team you beat were under 18's.... once the likes of the evans brothers, laithwaite, duffy and o'brien came on we outplayed you considerably by all accounts.

Don't know how you can argue that alot of your players are not overweight when everyone can see it with their own eyes.

Don't take it personally though.... its not just your club.... there are alot of overweight players in lower league rugby.. that's just the way it is.

How did Ben Currie play?

Nothing personal taken but our lads work all day,train a few nights and a couple of hours on a saturday,they wont be as fit as your lads be they u23,u21 or whatever.Nothing seems to be said that in the second half we made nine changes putting in fringe players
We are a club struggling along one owned by the fans with very little resources,unlike super league clubs who must have bigger back room staff than we have in our squad, but we keep going and we played and beat the future stars of a super league club let us take some comfort from that.

Im not having a go... just counterling your claim that 'the future doesn't look good' for us.

Our under 20's won the league last season and the latest England youth team announced had more wire players in it than any other team.

So the future doesn't look that bad.

As I said in my report it was a very entertaining game and BOTH sides played some good rugby.

We each scored 6 tries so that was even, but the scoreboard doesn't lie and Rochdale won.

Rochdale do have some very good players in their side and to give them anything other than credit for the way they played would be very unfair and simply incorrect.

It was a very worthwhile game from our point of view and I am sure we will improve further in our next game at South Wales.
