| Following on from the Russian, I'd be interested to know who rides on here and what bike they have got.
I recently passed in August and have a Kawasaki ER6F and am now bored of it and looking for my next one. I've test ridden Street Triple, Triumph Sprint ST, R6, ZX6R, VFR800 but not sure which way to go.

| Wires71 well done for passing, I passed my test 2 years ago and commute 40 miles each and every day winter and summer.
Your bike choice should depend on how often and what type of riding you do. Warm weather riding only then the R6 or Speed Triple would be fantastic, but as soon as the winter sets in these bikes are just not practical enough.
If you regularly ride winter and summer then the Sprint St would be a great choice. I know someone who has a VFR800 and because of the electronic management system the bike is often in with the mechanic.

Cheers. From what I have read ther ST beats the VFR hands down and the VFR VTEC system is not a favourite amongst a lot of riders. My missus has just bought herself a Street Triple - it's mental!

| Ok, seeing as people are a bit reluctant to post pics of their bikes i'll start the ball rolling. This is me with my pride and joy, its got fully synthetic race oils, race can, race shocks, uprated brakes and race tyres.
Thats my limited edition Valentino Rossi lightweight race helmet that i'm wearing, i didn't have time to slip into my full race leathers as they are black and it was dark in the shed and couldn't find them.

| Passed my Bike test (part 2) around Jan/Feb 1985 !!
I passed on my Red Yamaha RD 125LC it was beauty…. Only bettered by My 350 version, the Yamaha rd 350 LC YPVS, or Elsie as she was known. Before passing my test I had the most fun ever on my Suziki ER 50 road legal/Trials bike. Just built to be abused…
My last bike I had over ten years ago now, it was a kawazaki ZXr 750... that was one fast motha … I was told it would do 160 mph……I can vouch that that estimate was pretty damn accurate.
But I haven’t ridden since I realised I was too often driving right on my skill limit. Me and a mate where doing the Bala Trawsfynned race…oopps sorry the Bala Trawsfynned Road, I had left him well behind on his Yam 400 and I took a hump in the road that fast I took off and landed on the opposite carriageway It was one of those moments when the bravado is interrupted by moments of Feck me I could have killed myself…
I’ve got a family now and quite Rightly my missus reminds of that When we are at traffic lights next to a bike and I utter the words “I DO like those Ducati’s”

| I'm riding a Derbi GPR125 racing on my cbt, been riding for 4 years now. Thinking of doing my full test at the start of next year. Best 125cc bike on the road in my opinion.

| I've got a Vespa ET4, although it was nicked a few weeks ago and is currently in a compound in Stretton waiting for a lazy insurance company to come and inspect the damage some little scrotes did. So I may or may not get that back.
I've temporarily replaced it with a Kawasaki ER5 whilst I wait for my insurance to come through and then I will go back to a scooter. Probably a Vespa PX200 and look to fit a 210 kit to it.

Afraid I have to disagree! The two best 125s are the YZF125R because it looks gorgeous with a full size frame and commands a lot of road respect for a 125 (it is also the fastest), and the Honda XL125 Varadero is excellent. Firstly because it is big enough for a human to ride, unlike the CBR125 and secondly because it is a V-twin so sounds like a real bike!

| I've had a few over the years... Passed my bike test when I was 17 (16 years ago now) on my TZR125....then I went onto RGV250, CBR600 and GSXR750...
Not had a bike for about 7/8 years now... But I am getting one around march of next year.... Looked at quite a few options.... I have a mate In Preston who has a second hand bike business and he has let me ride all sorts... I have decided to go for a ZX9R Ninja....can't wait to get it now... I'm spending loads of time on eBay watching how much they are going for.

I also used to have a 350 LC... i used to love that powerband... 2 strokes were so much fun.. did you ever ride an RG500? now that was what i call a powerband.... absolute animal of a 2 stroke.
The biking bug never leaves you... i had a pretty bad crash on my CBR600.. a car pulled out right infront of me when i was doing about 50.. the bike bounced off the wing... i hot the windscreen at an angle.. i skimmed off it and went sideways through someones wooden fence... i lay there in a big pile of leaves with my bike about 2 inches from my head with no front end... i got away with a few bruises...
another time i was pushing my RGV250P to the max round a corner.. back end slightly out... when i hit a grid.. the bike spun a full 360 down the other side of the road.. luckily there was no cars coming
when i get my ZX9R I wont be riding it like that anymore.... the days of pushing bikes to the max are long gone....
I could talk about bikes and bike stories all day... anyway.. here are all the bikes i have ever owned in order (not the actual bikes.. but as close as damn it)
Susuki TS 50 X.. passed my CBT and bought this bad boy... put a micron can on it... got it re-bored.. up jets, racing reeds... 65MPH downhill with my head on the tank
TZR 125.. easy peasy to de-restrict... 100MPH down a big hill with head on tank... i thought i was the don riding round on this bad boy
350LC... great powerband..iconic bike now... worth loads... i blew mine up by redlining it to much
RGV250P... the closet thing at the time to a track bike.. this was a grey import from Japan... it stuck to the road like glue and had a powerband that kicked in at 11,000rpm.. it outhandled anything
CBR600... didnt really like this one to much.. i thought it was going to be a bit faster.. also didnt like the riding position
HOLY MOLEY GSXR750 slingshot.... got rid of the CBR and bought this with a straight through 4 into 1 remus can on it... this DID shift... the lad had done some engine mods to it as well
cant wait to get one of these next
motorbikes = good times

'"
The RG 500 Gamma I had a picture of that on my bedroom Wall for a while it was the bike I always wanted but everyone said why only move up from a 350 to a 500 you may as well get a 750 or 900 etc... I never did upgrade I met a girl and got a fiesta instead.
there was a mechanic at a garage in stockton heath that said he could put a competiton powervalve on my lc for me and it would do 130 mph i never took him up on the offer, it was probably wise.
anyway an image of my first bike, I had a matching yellow and blue AGV helmet too. this was indestructable though I got hit by a car near james lee house about 3 months after getting it i made a mess of an 80's Casual leather jacket but the bike hardly got a scratch
my dad brought a gp 125 home one day he was like that..! it was a mess but we did it up an sold it for a small profit (and when no one was home I took it out for many an illegal test drive)
amazingly i cant find a picture anywhere of an All REd RD 125 like the one I had but it was the same style as this and was a brilliant bike
but this is my favourite ever bike and if I could go back in time it would be to 1986 when I bought this
then probably some 9 years later I had one of these for 12 months, took a while to get my eye in but I did really enjoy it...but drove it like a dick reallly.
My Leather jacket is still in the bedroom wardrobe just to keep the fire burning I havent given up hope of biking...

| loving the RD125.... the TZR i had was just a newer version.. deltabox frame and a nice fairing.
i learnt to ride on a beat up CG125... what an animal... it took some stick that bike.. and it still got up off the floor for more off road hammerings.
The RG500 gamma was an amazing bit of kit.. i never owned one but a mate of mine did...he used to blow all the 750s off on that beast... temperamental as hell though.. which is 2 strokes for you.. the 500's were really prone to having spectacular engine blow outs... sometimes the engine would get so hot the piston rings would weld themselves to the inside of the sleeve and totally seize the engine... fun to ride though.... we were forever fixing 2 strokes in my mates gararge... head gaskets would blow all the time.... in the end we stopped buying them.. we made them out of cornflake boxes with a load of instant gasket.... worked just as well (only on 50's though).
that was the beauty of moving over to a 4 stroke.. no more pricey engine faults and no more 2-stroke oil.
I think once you have the biking bug its very hard to get rid of... infact i dont think it ever leaves you.
to answer the original query from wires 71
Quote ="Wires71"I've test ridden Street Triple, Triumph Sprint ST, R6, ZX6R, VFR800 but not sure which way to go.'"
Good advice i was given once is 'make sure you get the bike that is the fastest for your personal taste.. there is nothing worse than getting a bike and then a few weeks later wishing it had more kick'... i made that mistake when i got the CBR600.... real gutless machine with a horrible riding position... i have never liked the fireblade range since... doesnt matter how fast they go.. you're is so far up in the air you end up doing life savers under your arm.... certainly not a bike to go all the way to the isle of man on anyway.

Weirdly looking at this thread I have been thinking about getting back on a bike, I passed my test way back in 1986 on a Suzuki GP100 (red with yellow stripe 70mph down Alder Lane in Burtonwood with a tail wind). Before that (at 16) I had a Yamaha TY50 trials bike and a Kawasaki AR50 that unfortunately used to catch fire from time to time.
Only really nostalgic for the old sports peds though, re-living the days when me and my mates used to hang around on DT50s, MB5s, Fizzies, X1s and AP50s. Thinking about buying one to renovate as my eldest lad is not too far from being old enough to ride one. A renovated Fizzy pre 1977 can sell for over £3k now!
The little two strokers are so much sheer fun. Like a fat girl, great to ride but a bit embarrassing to be seen on.
