Merseyside Police have warned residents of St Helens to be aware of a spate of thefts of clothing from washing lines in the area.

Victims are reporting that thieves are stealing items from their lines, one resident of Thatto Heath told Police how thieves took all the pegs from her line but left her husbands St Helens RL shirt on the grass.

Washing line thefts are no laughing matter.

The saints chairman telephoned merseyside police today to report a theft from the trophy room. When asked what exactly had been stolen he replied " a red and white carpet."

Now I'm a manc not a scouse, but lets be fair to Liverpool fans. Out of football supporters they are generally of the more fair minded and realistic bunch. They have a long fuse with managers and give them a fair crack of the whip, it took a long time for knives to come out against Gerard Houllier and Rafa got more than his fair chance with their support. They are also right behind Hodgson at the moment where I bet any of the other 'bigger' clubs fans would regard Hodgson as a bit beneath them.

In the modern game you need multi millionaire backers and a sexy city to attract any decent players, Liverpool are nonentities in these terms the only thing they have going for them is their footballing history, but despite this they have managed to punch above their weight and pick up several trophies in the premier league era not least the Champions League, something which has been beyond the mighty Chelsea and Arsenal.
