| Come along early and watch the Wolves Under 20s take on the Rhinos. Kick off 3.15pm.
The Wolves moved to the top of the Valvoline Cup last week with a win at Bradford and will be hoping to move back above St. Helens with a win over Leeds.
There has been alot of quality in the Under 20s this season and tomorrow wont be any different so come and have a look at them and judge for yourselves.

| Great performance from the Wolves today to move back to the top of the Valvoline Cup league table.
I hope that those of you that come into the ground early was impressed by what was on offer on the pitch rather than some rubbish on the big screen!!!

Rhys Evans actually scored 3 tries not 2 (Rhys Williams only got 1) and Gareth O'Brien kicked 13 goals for a total of 30 points.

They obviously would have improved the side but our under 20's beat wigan earlier in the season that had 4 first teamers, the under 20's have been piling the points on for most of the season

Everyone says we can't produce young players though! Take out the first team players that's still a great performance from a team made up mostly of young players which we supposedly cannot produce!

| I was glad to see that the majority, if not all the fans that turned up for the world cup game were paying more attention to the under 20s game (even before Germany ran riot). It was good to see the lads get the support. Hopefully a good chunk of those there early yesterday will pop along early for any future matches.

Doesnt matter whther they've played first team rugby or not. if they qualify, you pick your best players. And dont forget....the under 20s scored 94, not just 3 players

| I don't want too put a dampener on this but Leeds have been very poor at U20 /21 level for about three years. I don't know what's going on there and actually commented on it on the Leeds site earlier this season.
Wakefield beat them 54 - 0 and Quins beat them last week. (It was only Quins second win of the season) and Leeds have the second worst defense and second worst attack in the competition.
Only Quins are worse.
I'm really looking forward to the Wigan v Wire U20 game at Orrell on July 17th, as that will probably decide who finishes top.
At the moment Wire are three points clear of Wigan, but Wigan have played two games less.

| When did John Bastian leave Leeds? I know he's only been with us a short while but did we get him straight from Headingley or elsewhere? I just wonder whether we are seeing his influence on both the Wire kids and the Leeds kids in action - his protegees from the Leeds Academy are reaping the benefits in the first team right now, while maybe his departure has affected the current crop of Leeds kids...

| Our under 18's are as good as Anything around! So are our youth set ups. No doubt the 20's results look poor but the key players in that team have been plugging holes in the first team. the 20's set up in the last few years has produced Ryan hall, mcshane, watkins, bjb, chris clarkson so as long as the squad produces qualify first team players then results mean little.

That's kind of my point - John Bastian has left a fantastic legacy at Leeds and I hope he achieves similar heights with Wire, but has his departure had any kind of effect or is his legacy greater than that?

How do you work that one out?
The U18's fixtures have been strange in that not all clubs have played each other. A better test will start later this month now that the "grading" has been complete.
The last two seasons Leeds have finished 10th and 7th at U18 level.

Saints 20's have been plugging holes in our first team all season too - we managed to beat Wire though.
Leeds' teams, at under 18's and under 20's, are FAR from "as good as anything around".

I don't think anyone doubts the quality of the kids in your reserves, but your first team is packed with players bought in from elsewhere - that is a fact.
I think from your team yesterday (including the three players making comebacks in the reserves) only 3 came through at Warrington (Riley, Harrison, Wood)?
I'm sure Saints and Wigan could field full XVII's of players brought through the ranks who have played SL in 2010:
Wellens
Foster
Wheeler
Dean
Lomax
Moore
Eastmond
Graham
Cunningham
Emmitt
Clough
Dixon
Roby
Magennis
Armstrong
Ashurst
Johnson
Hopefully the current crop of Wire youngsters find their way into the first team in numbers in due course, they certainly appear good enough. It's fair comment, however, to say Wire have a way to go to replicate what Saints and Wigan in particular have been doing recently.
