This lad deserves alot of credit I think, he's now top try scorer in the league (12) and has looked very solid, the lad lost his mum around Christmas time and has coped with that going into the new season he's got his head down and been playing really well.

Must say young Riley impresses me ever since i first saw him at Widnes 2/3 years ago.Never frightened of getting stuck in both in attack & defence he will take on the biggest of opponents & has the guts to back his own instincts during matches.

He's come on a great deal from his early first team games where he did look out of his depth.
Improvement is partly down to TS and partly him.

Came in off the wing a couple of times yesterday and tackled man and ball. Adding more to his repetoire as he gains experience.
Key factor is being outside Solamona who's laid on some terrific cut out passes for him - like yesterday

Riley is benefitting from being the edge receiver to Solomona. What a player Big Dave is.

Think that Smith has to leave him on the wing where his defence is better & he can finish really well with his speed. For me Riley isn't that effective in the attacking line from full back

Was just looking at the stats on the SL website and considering he's only recently turned 22 it's remarkable to think this is already his sixth Super League season, certainly doesn't seem that long.

When you look at the amount of appearances he has made year on year, I think he's really benefited from a steady increase, rather then being exposed to too much too soon.

The fact that the lad is only 22 excites me the lad will hopefully go on to play for England and be a huge player.

Cracking young player, England potential? I'd have hoped we'd moved on from playing small lads against international teams. International wingers should be cream athletes, Riley for all his wonderful contribution to WWRLFC, is not. If Riley plays for England, i'd be worried

great for the lad , wire thru and thru, i love it when he comes over to the east stand after every game and gives his dad a big hug, brilliant that is.

He is having a superb season and to overcome such adversity shows him to be a strong character. Good on him. I for one (if I'm being honest) never thought he would "make it as a top flight, top SL team winger" and thought him another Gaskell, but so far so good.

If Hicks had not been out the first couple of weeks, Riley probably wouldn't have played yet!

Who was that Ginger winger that played for Saints in early SL. Reminds me a lot of Riley. Hope Riley goes on to do more.

Watched him play for woolstin rovers as a youngster, he was playing loose forward! By far the best player on the pitch.

Made up he's doing well, he seems to have grown in strength too which certainly helps in super league! That's the prob with kev penny imo, a bit too small which means loses too many yards when get pushed back in the tackle

I was so excited by Kev Penny, such pace and athleticism, but the trouble is you need to be able to play rugby too. What a shame for him.

I would agree with that, at the moment, but the way that Riley has learnt and developed over the years I wouldn't be surprised to see him start to develop that part of his game.

he has come on leaps and bounds since when i first watched him six years ago i think it was, there is no doubting that he knows his way to the try line which is always a good thing - he doesn't half take some stick mind. He has pace and is quite strong for his build/size. He has definatley developed hugely since the first time i watched him - it's certainly bright at the wire at the minute regarding youngsters;

i'm not sure about Penny he doesn't seem to be in TS plans of yet, and i haven't seen enough of Blythe to judge.

That's just reminded me of amusing comments at the match on Friday.

Firstly, when Riley dropped the ball part way through the second half (from what I thought was a bad pass) someone behind me says "god, what are you passing to him for, he's the last person you want to pass it to"

Then, not long afterwards when Solomona made a mistake the comment was "you know he's not that good is he? he's just big"

Surprisingly when Solomona set Riley up at the end it was just a quiet clap so I just turned round and smiled.

We've got 5 players in the top 20 try scorers which is encouraging. In previous years we'd have had Hicks or Fa'afili near the top and then no one else anywhere near.

Its nice to see with so many great 'striking' options in the team and across the side, rather than playing one-sided like we tended to do when we had Gleeson.
