No Briers just means we stick to what we've been doing well, which is the basics. Keep grinding things out until we get the odd opportunity as the game wears on, then we have the firepower to finish those chances.

Will be a toughie though... Saints fired up for their biggest test of the season with their star players back, and us due for an off day at some point.

I'm leaning towards 60% vs 40% in Saints favour for this one.

Presumably Mitchell will not play, so comes down to Mathers or Riley again, unless someone is not quite fit.

Only tough call is one from Hargreaves/Clough and although Hargreaves has been playing well recently, Clough is the better player.

I hope Potter doesn't play Soliola instead of Wheeler in the centres, I think we could do with his impact from the bench against a big pack.

Probably gonna be the sam 17 as last week then , unless Mathers comes in for Riley (rested).. which might not be a bad thing this week to be honest as i think Richie is the more vocal of the two, and probably a better organiser of the backline than Chris..... Also after seeing Smiths interview with Skents yesterday it was obvious he wasn't gonna risk a not fully fit Briers in a game thats really not a must win game ... i actually think it could be over the Easter weeken when Briers makes his comeback ...

Ps.. I just got told that Matt Kings booked in the Hairdressers at Longford on Monday morning for a Ryan atkins Style jobby on his mop, but with a primrose and blue rinse for added effect... Now i'm 99% certain on this info but please keep it under your hat, because by all accounts thats what Matt Kings doing

This is going to be my first trip back to Knowsley Road since the 80-0 drubbing many years ago. Am actually looking forward to it.

On the Morley issue, as much as I think it's a load of rubbish, it does make me wonder why Lee Mitchell has been recalled from his dual loan spell at Leigh to take a place in the squad. Surely this place could easily have been given to somebody else if its purpose is simply to make up the numbers. Although I appreciate that withdrawal’s can happen between now and kick-off.

Then surley it would of been better to recall Cooper from Cas .

Mitchell's dual reg deal means he can play for Leigh whenever he isn't required to play for us.

Cooper is on a full on loan deal, which if I remember correctly, means he can't be recalled within the first month of the deal (or in this case, the entire period of the loan)

I would have thought so as well. But I don't know if you can recall players who are on short-term loans (i.e. 1 month) - I might be wrong though. I think that was the purpose of these dual-registrations.

Anyway, it's not an issues I'm sure, it was just a thought.

No, he's fine. Watch the post-match interview with Smith on the official site after last weeks game. Wood and Morley were just playing well so he kept them on.

I'll agree with that. For a couple of days there's been some good RL discussion, then tyhose two go and spoil it. To get back on track, Carvell was certainly limping at the end of the game, so there may be some doubt. On the other hand, TS has to vary his 19 each week, otherwise players not in the final 17 would not get much match practice. It also sends a message to Mitchell that he hasn't been forgotten about.

I believe Mitchell has been in superb form for Leigh - very well earned call up and illustrates the benefits to both clubs of the dual registration system.

I think Smith is wanting to re-assure them that they haven't gone on loan as a stepping stone to getting rid, but of keeping them fit and getting them playing on a regualr basis.
Even though at the time that is what was said, I think several people had that 'knowing look'.
I - for one - am pleased with how they're being handled.
Later on in the season if we have injuries they'll be needed.
And in the long term too.

Yes, we've been fortunate so far, and they will play a part later on this season. I would imagine that if Mitchell isn't required this week that he'll go back to Leigh and maybe McCarthy will be in the squad next week.
