| Yesterday I said he deserved MoM for his defensive effort allied to the problems he caused Hudds in attack.
Well - I've just watched the full match again - and I simply can't believe the number of tackles he put in. I'm dying to see the stats.
He destroyed Wigan in the semis and was a key player in us beating Hudds.
Well done Mick - fantastic dsiplay.

| Totally agree.
He's really come to the fore now playing at alternate hooker / scrum half.

Poor scrum half.
Arguably the best hooker in world rugby.
Keep playing him at nine, we have arguably the best hooker in world rugby on our books, wow.

| Monaghan was phenomenal at Hooker yesterday and I believe Tony Smith knows that Hooker is his best position. With the arrival of Myler (If it comes off as mentioned on here) Then surley this is where he will stay.

| I'm still expecting the comment from the usual suspect, something along the lines of: send him home, we don't want no overrated Aussie's who take 18 months to perform!
Monaghan was immense yesterday. Just read what leaguefreak said about the game, laughable at best

It's funny how the paper slipped in all the references to their previous southern hemisphere clubs!

Originally Micky Higham was brought in as an impact hooker to Jon Clarke before Michael Monaghan was switched to 9, if anyone has a right to laugh then its Micky Higham as he was playing at wembley on saturday whilst most of his former team mates will have been sat watching the game on tele and thinking what could have been if only i had signed for a big club

| It was very sad that nothing was said about Monaghans man of the match performance at todays home coming.
Winning the Lance Todd Trophy is an achievement on its own and Monaghan should have recieved the plaudits of todays crowd.
If it had been Briers they wouldn't have shut up about it.
Anyway well done Monners for proving what a classy player you really are. And I really hope you stay next year as with you at No9 this team/club is going places.

When did Higham ever think he would be a "starting #9" at all his clubs Leigh, St Helens, Bradford, Wigan & Warrington.
There was only one club where he was a starting #9 & that was Leigh.

Providing Monagham stays next season we start with Monas, use Higham off the bench and use John Clarke as a 2nd row/loose forward.
Plenty of competition for the back row places - Clarke,Grix,Louis and Vinnie, Harrison, Westwood along with Mitchell and McCarthry ( plus to a lesser extent Blythe )

I think our bench will need a couple more seats. What with Woods , Bridge, Higham, Clarke, Grix, Cooper, Mitchel, McCarthry & Blythe. It should make an interesting new season.
