Anybody got any suggestions on the best pub to use next Saturday, I believe the Albion will be closed and apart from the Cricketers Arms and The Crown I'm not sure of anymore, leaving Warrington early to find a pub close to the ground and i need to let a few people know which pub to go so any suggestions will be appreciated.

I've never been to widnes, Is there usually a greasy spoon or something like a KFC for some pre match food?

It used to get busy in there though when Widnes were in SL. Hopefully it will be a nice day so people can drink outside. |

Mc Donalds is 1 minute from the ground you cant miss it, also a chippy 30 seconds from the ground. |

Bit of a downer that the Albion is closed...We're not exactly spoilt for choice for decent Ale Houses in Widnes for a pre game pint..
The Cricketers is bound to be chocker..I'll probably get there early and head for wetherspoons in the town... |

If on the train then a Crown would be alright for a quiet pint. Popped in there when I was back home a few weeks ago, it's not got great tellys or anything, but not bad beer.
As has been pointed out, it appears as though the Albion is shut. If you dont mind hopping in cabs, then I'd go into town and go for a few in Wetherspoons and the Imperial. Both nice places, though the latter is a bit more expensive.
I hear that the Cricketers is nicer than in days gone by, don't quote me on that though.

I remember going to watch Widnes years ago and saw two queues a big one and a little one. I asked some Wid where the ground was and he said see them queues there? the big ones for the chippy the little ones for the ground.  '"
Similar to when the Widnes ground and Wire grounds got broke into.
The Widnes ground had amongst other things, a World Club Champions trophy, 7 challenge cup winners trophies, 6 premiership winners trophies, 7 Lancashire cup winners trophies, 1 European champions trophy and 3 Charity Shield winners trophies stolen.
The Warrington ground had a kettle and a toaster nicked
