| Been a widnes fan i missing playing warrington. It used to be electric the atmosphere and i am sure if we was allowed into superleague they be just as good or even better. We got a decent fan base for the league we are in and would double if got into superleague. Most teams are lucky to bring a minibus to widnes. The best away support is leigh and fax to be honest. With stobarts i am sure we could spend and compete well.Hope your team gets in the top 6 so we can have your rejects. .Serious your second grade players such as pickersgill and penney are doing great for us.Hope we can keep a good relationship so we can dominate in the championship. The only problem is the salary cap.

| I used to miss the Wierdness derby, but not anymore.
The advent of Summer rugby, and Wierdness missing the 'SL boat', mean't we lost our traditional Christmas and Easter derby weekends. The Saints fixtures (which for me were just another game previously) grew in stature and joined wigan as the first fixtures to look for when the lists came out.
When Wierdness clawed their way back into SL in 2002 it just wasn't the same as it used to be. For me the Wierdness games were just another game. Maybe more significant than a Huddersfeild or Wakefield fixture, but not in the same league for excitement or atmosphere as a Saints or wigan game.
When they were relegated in 2005 I was totally ambivalent to their plight. If I had any concern at all is was for the several friends that I have who just happen to be Wierdness fans. It was the same when they went into administration and for a while looked like they were going to disappear forever.
Really couldn't care less now whether Wierdness are in SL or not - the magic has been lost and it would now be just another game.

Thought it was Wigan now?
Widnes - Wire derbies will always be the biggest, why? Because both sides care about it a HUGE amount!
Saints & Wigan iant to fussed about Wire game - AT ALL! It's only Wire's and some in media that try and 'big it up' if you like!

Really?
Read some boards like 606, open boards, all there is is Wire going on bout out! Few Saints fans saying, we may lose with injuries, but not to worry!
If you think otherwise your in dream land!

| Most Warrington fans i know, say they have always considered Wigan as their 'enemy'. With Widnes and St Helens probably marginally coming second. Suprised Salford hasn't cropped up yet.

| hhm I am not too sure, I watched a few old Widnes dvd's last week, and one of which was Wires away 91 cup quart final at Wildernesspool, and as Warrington walked out the crowd were singing 'who flippin ell are Wigan?'. Heard that chant several times through the game, and only a couple of about us. Not that you go off what the crowd sing etc, but suppose that does give some indication.
Don't know what Wigoon fans make of it, don't really know any tbh.
Now Stains, that a different matter completely, one side of my family are Tellins born and bred, and I also work in the town. I have spoken to various people about their opinions on a Wires V Stains local derby match, and while they all agree there is a good turnout and atmosphere (more so from the warry speccies) it will never compete with a Wigan game. Interesting, but I suppose in this kind of scenario, everyone has their own view.

TBH, That should be the BIG ONE for Wire, both clubs a similar standing in Rugby League History like, leave the big derbies for the bigger clubs I think a WCC should qualify entry in that sense!

| I used to miss playing Widnes....But i'm afraid things move on...
I was in Barcelona for the Catalan game and it occured to me...
Having a drink on Las Ramblas in glorious weather then watching the match at the Olympic Statdium...
Or a drink in the Cricketers arms then the Stobart stadium with the smell of S**t drifting over..
Mmm tough choice...

The first meeting in SL resulted in a Widnes win at Wilderspool. The rush of blood that was created in the nether-regions, resulted in mass fainting in the away end.

Right, so its been a while then. SHame, widnes always been my 2nd team, enjoyed wtaching them in the early 80's, couldnt fail to be impressed by their squad back them. Be great see them back in the big time, with a strong squad and giving it a go...much better than "waste of space" salford who offer and bring nothing to teh game of RL and shoudl be wound up and sent off to amateur world...

| fair enough. I cba with all the bickering whilst we are not in the same division tbh. In terms of Sl era, Warrington probably won more games, but it wasn't as one sided as you make out SS, I think it worked in 'seasons'. One year we'd win all games, then vice versa the following year. Weird.
Whilst I appreciate you dislike the pies more, will you ever be considered their 'enemy'?
