| I am really impressed every time i see him play what a great bit of business by Warrington
i know everyone raves about Moza and Carvell but Mathers looks the part for me in full back spot
cant see jonno getting back in team with Reily and Hicks on the wings Mathers at fullback

I have thought in previous games Mathers has played well, but wasn't impressed tonight, he took one high ball and did little else and his pass selection and execution wasn't as good as normal. But great team performance in the end although started slow...short kicking game good. Rest of kicking game poor.....But lots to look forward to

| he put his body on the line when diving on a ball with all cas charging at him. Seems to have a clarity of thought that not all of the warrington side have, knows when to settle down and keep hold of possesion

| Class act when he left Leeds.
Let's hope Tony Smith can get the same out of him again.

From memory he made 2 certain try saving tackles, he held up Dean Widders over the line to save a certain try just like he did against Wigan when he held up Joel Tomkins over the line to save another certain try, towards the end he stopped Rangi Chase when that looked like it was going to be a certain try as well.
Those would have been a certain 6 points in the past, on top of that he took a great high swirling ball when he had Castleford players all around him and he positioned himself well for other kicks and returned them well.
This is something that Stuart Reardon wouldn`t have done, he is a specialist full back and its showing, keep up the good work Richie....
While i`m here, Chris Riley looks more solid at returning the ball, over the last couple of games you don`t get the feeling he will spill the ball at the first impact.

| I think Mathers adds another dimension to our attacking play. He runs a set move with Briers where he stands deep & receives the ball as 2nd receiver when we are attacking the opposition line.

That looks very much as if he has been told protecting teh ball is number one priority; making the break is an added bonus. Previously with Riley it seemed the other way round.
Its the little things that make the difference apparently. Its good that we now look like a team where the little things are becoming a big deal.

| Thought Mathers and Riley gt themselves confused and in a muddle when the bomb went up and they let it bounce.
Try was disallowed but I thought one of them could have taken it on the full.

| I agree that Mathers could well become the signing of the season. His presence has certainly improved us. He looks confident on the kick return, is able to secure good field position, quick play the balls and is attacking as a 3rd halfback. This is allowing Harrison and Vinnie to become more effective as running loose forwards rather than having to link the play between the two channels. I really can see Ritchie becoming a huge player for us over the next few seasons.

| I think Mathers is a key factor in our defensive improvement due to his communication to the other players about their positioning and structural movement.

Me too.
As much as Riley gave his all at fullback, and scored some magic tries, the organisational side of the role for a young, shy lad isn't going to be his strongpoint. I think he's a follower, not a leader, and there's nothing wrong with that. Mathers seems to do this quite naturally.
He'll only get better Mathers, the more matches he plays.

| Very well done by the lad to seemingly settle into the team so quickly. He looked as though he's been in the team for five years since signing.
