Ive knocked Chris Bridge in the past about certain aspects of his game, i`m big enough as a person to give a player praise who ive criticised previously.

He looked assured in everything he did, the run and pass to Matt King for the Jon Clarke try was superb, his goal kicking was Frano Botica standard and his defence which ive questioned at times in the past was excellent.

I too thought Bridge had one of his best games so far. I do like him in the role of Centre.

I`m not sure why your suprised that i`m giving praise to a player, unlike a few certain regular posters on here ive not gone out of my way to start a thread to have a go at Chris Bridge in the past.

All i did previsouly was to contribute to another thread and say that replacing Martin Gleeson with Chris Bridge wasn`t strengthening us at right centre and i pointed out his weak attempt on Danny Tickle against Hull which lead to a try, its just a natural thought for someone to have when you let a proven international standard player leave and replace him with someone that was relatively unproven at centre given his limited games for us in that position.

People would have been up in arms on here if Paul Cullen had replaced Martin Gleeson in the past with Chris Bridge, like i said at the time it could be a masterstroke by Tony Smith just like it could be a masterstroke in him signing a player that was unwanted by Wigan in Richie Mathers.

That would have been Briers if you watch the game back again. Briers just 'fell' off the tackle.

Briers made the first poor attempt to stop Danny Tickle, Chris Bridge then got himself into a good position to tackle Danny Tickle but his attempt was just as feeble as the Briers attempt. Thats water under the Bridge anyway, this thread was about giving him praise for saturday.

I can`t be bothered having to justify praise or criticism on here which seems to be the norm, he played well on saturday and thats where i`ll leave it, he`s made a good start at right centre, only in the long term will it tell us if he has been a good replacement for Martin Gleeson.

Must admit for a while I've been wondering where Chris Bridge could fit into the team, not really a stand off, not comfortable at full back, possible loose forward.

But he's fitted in well at centre and is getting better with each game.

Also nice to see him get a good run without injury. (Touch wood)

At first I thought it was a bad move to let Gleeson go but I really don't think he's been missed at all.

Do you now think that chris bridge has strengthened the team? I have said this before & i think he has got a lot more to offer than MG. Maybe we won't see him at the highest international level but if he carries on he deserves to be!

He's a more than suitable replacement for Gleeson.

Bridge has as much natural talent as any player in the British game, if he has a fair run of injuries and maintains his good attitude then the sky is the limit for him.

I've seen him play centre for you a couple of times recently and have been seriously impressed!

He seems to be a very natural centre, generally getting toward the outside of his marker, but then showing a good step back if the gap's closed.
