Happy for Penny but not happy for us as I think he's a fantastic talent and if I remember correctly, most loans end in permanent deals

All depends on what he does.

If he does well and sets the league alight then I'm ssure he'll be brought back.

If he fails to make an impact would we really want him back.

As for Pickersgill, it never really looked like he was going to get much of a chance so he needed to put himself in the shop window. Good luck to him.

It maybe a good move for him, but does he need to be playing Co-operative league standard until the next round of franchise licences....? i'm not sure...

however it just enforces how low We actually sunk....this Back to Basics stuff i find quite hard to stomach.....off kids I could understand, but not a team of internationals...

You all assume that this loan is with a view to a transfer. It might suggest that but it is not certain. I hope they both prove Warrington wrong.

Anybody still got their penny tops? Hope he can improve under Cullen with first team action. Signs don't seem good for Picks however.

really pleased for both Pickersgil and Penny. I ,think they are good signings for Widnes and will prove their worth. They need some first team experience to keep improving. They both have talent and haven't always had the opportunities to improve with lots of first team experience. It will be good to watch them progress there with the view of them coming back to first team action at the Wolves, if thats where their future lies

imo i don't think penny will come back hope he does though with plenty of experience under his belt

I see this as make or break for both of their careers at Warrington. If both of them storm it at Widnes they Smith might think it's worth keeping hold if not then goodbye.

I cannot see the downside in this deal for us. If either of them develop and shine in the lower league they will be brought back for sure, if they cannot produce at that level consistently then we are probably best without them. Good luck to both of them.

At last, but probably 12 months too late.

With regards to Penny,this situation has been crying out for a loan spell at a National League club for about 12 months now.

He can actually learn the game playing against some seasoned professionals every week instead of wasting away in the reserves.

This could still be the making of him as a player. I certainly hope so but I would have gone even further and made it a season long deal.

bin waitin for this to happen for a while, exactly what penny needs, to get stuck in in the lower league and learn his trade physically, better that just plodding along in the reserves

If these players are good enough (and they have both showed signs of having the talent) then they will do well enough to come back.

It's classic sink or swim for those two, whilst giving them game time they wouldn't have got otherwise and reducing our financial outlay. Just wish they were on loan under a coach more recognised for developing talent, but you cannot have everything.

Whilst relaxed about Picks, I'd be really dissapointed if Penny does not develop into the absolute world beater I believe he could be. He has scored tries for us that more seasoned SL wingers could only dream of.
