Right this is something that needs to happen.

When i came to my 1st game at Wilderspool many moons ago i don't remember the game (not got a scooby) i remember the fans.

In short, they were awesome. Singing from start to finish and that is what grabbed me, it made me think i support a special team with the best fans in the world.

At Wilderspool through the years we have had some shocking results but the one thing that always filled me with pride was the fans always stuck by the team.

Since the move to the HJ i noticed half way through our 1st season that the atmosphere had changed, it had lost something.
Now we are booing all the time home and away EVEN AT HALF TIME. Sometimes booing if the oppostition score the 1st try ???

Now we've all been guilty or slating players (sometimes warranted) but lets not let the players hear that. The coach knows who plays badly and with TS in charge will take appropriate action (Briers benched)
People are coming on here lately and absolutely hammering players for even minor indiscressions.
Briers gets slaughtered regardless as do Clarke,King,Monas,Penny(not even playing)Riley,Grix, all our forwards even moz's name is creeping in.
The only player that is a real attacking player and player of the team last season Hicks is now the latest victim due to missing A KICK



Now im not going to be a hypocrite i too myself have had a go at Briers,Monas,King and Penny but it's not getting us anywhere.

Spread the word, it's time to go back to old days of Wilderspool with our backs to the wall singing loud and proud win lose or draw and make the lads want to play not only for themselves but because they don't want to let THE GREATEST FANS IN THE WORLD down.
Fans that sing from start to finish like a rallying call to battle, that inspires players to give 110%. Where everyone that comes here says Warrington fans are the best, where players from other clubs think this is a club i'd want to play for

Lets shame the players into playing fantastic rugby because they know that they have fantastic fans were they know that giving 100% isn't enough

thats a great post,i totally agree with most of your points there,
and like you say its the fans that can get that extra 20% out of the players,
the players want to hear shouts of encouragement not someone berating them everytime they drop a ball..
trust me most wire fans will follow their team through good and bad,and there is not many good times when your a wire but eh,we just have to stick with it and let tony smith get rid of all the dead wood and build for the future.....like you say lets keep SINGING,SUPPORTING AND SMILEING,
we can all do our bit for the rest of this season ,now its up to the PLAYERS.....

Your words are enough. It baffles me how people pay there money to then stand/sit and be negative before the game starts.

Mate I completely agree with you, I would rather these boo-boys saved their money and stayed at home. Sometimes I feel like they go to the match with the intention of having a moan. I am sick of it and I'm sure that the players are too, I only hope that they hear the minority who are backing them through thick and thin over those aren't. Count me in!

just a idea why doesnt everyone who uses this wire forum meet before in rodney and start getting the chanting and cheering going before hand to try and gee up the other followers gett everyone pumped up before kick off

I agree, would be better without the drum, many other teams create great atmospheres without one. The team needs and anthem, like Stoke have Delia, West Ham have forever blowing bubbles, Celtic have you'll never walk alone or fields of athenry.

If everyone put the effort that the small band of fans put in against York, then I can't see why the atmosphere can go back to the way it used to be.

the last couple of games i have been seated near the commerty boxes and the cheering is non exsitence very quiet

Acoustics are an issue.

True, hence the difficulty being heard the further towards compost corner. The one way to combat this is to have the stuff start with us, then move across as a wall of sound, with EVERYONE making a noise. We make the noise, but it's filtered out the closer to the halfway line and beyond that you get

when am at the football the atmosphere before the game around the ground in pubs is electric just to hear abit of cheerin before you get into ground would surley put everyone in the mood for the game

We have our merry singing clan, they seem to be more football fan types though and alot older rather than a blazing squad imitation.

The various groups are too busy trying go out on their own and do their own thing, rather than band together as one.

Great post, I don't go to matches to boo, seems a bit pointless. Also i understand that you shouldn't get on players back during the matches (especially since we have a coach who we know can see what we can see).

I also take your point about being negative about our players, but if we can't discus what we witness with our own eyes week in week out here, where should we discus it?

It must be so demoralising to be booed, especially if you've given your all and probably already feel bad.

I'm in the North stand but a friend of mine tells me that there are sections of supporters in the South who aren't remotely interested in the game but are more intent on 'eyeballing' opposing fans and booing our team at every opportunity.

In my Wilderspool days the sensible members of the crowd turned on anyone causing a problem. That doesn't happen now because some people don't feel ashamed that they've gone too far and violence would probably result.

If we are supporters of the team, that's what we should do. Support the lads win or lose. That's the only way we can build a good rapport with the players and make them proud to play for the team and for us.

let's go back to Wilderspool. It's an awful ground but the acoustics are good.
