seems like there will be alot of teams fighting for play offs this year and we seem to be a little off the pace at the moment.

All the eight really is, is a marketing tool to make more cash....As a competiton its merely a way of stretching out the season until we reach the almost inevitable conclusion of the top 2 meeting at Old Trafford.

realistically how far are we going to get in the top 8? maybe if we're lucky we'll win a game maybe two at the most we have no chance of getting silverware

I'd give my left nut to see Wire in a cup final, let alone win one. I'd take a carbon copy of Hull's season last year NOW, especially as we are officially in rebuild mode. If we can get to Wembley I can live with not making the SuperLeague playoffs and being eliminated in the 1st round.

I must admut, I don't get people being so dismissive of the Cup and the GF being the be-all and end-all. Crying it loud, it's been nearly twent years since we made a major final.

I went to the Challenge Cup final last year (on a Beano - ridiculous seats) but I was really envious of the Saints and Hull fans and the experience they had. Naturally the Saints fans were on autopilot (as per) but still, I don't think I'd ever get tired of watching my team in that stadium.

Considering we haven't had anything to 'celebrate' for since our last final appearance in 1994, I'd be happy just with the day out.

At least it would be a high point of sorts, beaten or not. And it might boost our support again.

This year's team is capable of making the final, as we may only have to win 1 game agaianst SL opposition, 2 at most, although I would expect us to get toasted by Saints in the final - but at least it's a good day out.

Having said that with 'days out' like Edinburgh and Barcelona already on the cards, it's not a bad season for trips.

Not bothered about the 8 this year as we stand zero chance of doing anythuing when we get there. It's more important that Smith gets to see the team in matches like the one on Friday, so that he can fully evaluate them, and make the right decisions on who to keep at the end of the season.
