| I thought Wigans execution was poor at times though...
Saints made numerous errors in the 1st half and the Pies never took advantage..

Isn`t it just! This isnt something that is simply coached, this is a desire that each and every player "must" possess, to ensure his team leaves the field victorious" no matter what is thrown at them!!
I hope each and every Warrington player was watching tonight, because as you said, this is the benchmark that they should set themselves....

| in Smith we trust...... He got Leeds to defend like their life depended on it and that was how we played at times against Leeds at the HJ earlier this season.

Maybe, but if we had faced Wigan tonight, do you think that we would have walked off after 80 mins, in front on the scoreboard?

| TBH thought our defence was chronic tonight. Almost 20 missed tackles is terrible but our goal line defence was great.

| saintc is right. I have never seen a Saints side conceed as much ground at the play the ball and through missed tackles. We simply weren't up to it tonight, it was a very tired showing.
The goal line defense tonight was brave and as organised as ever, that saved us tonight.

| i agree with the saints fans on this one. I thought it was two sides making plenty of errors and Wigan Lacked ....dare I say it .....Class. to go on and win the game.
I thought if Wigan were going to win that game it would be from a Saints Mistake (probably A Peulitua off load in his own 20). I never thought Wigan had the guile to be creative and unlock the Saints defence..

I thought that was the main difference in tonights game, Wigan at times looked cluless inside the Saints 10 metre area, they took a lot of wrong options and seemed to run round in circles. Saints defended very well on their own line but Wigan made it very easy for thyem at times with some very predictable 1 up drives, Andy Coley deserves a strong mention after taking quite a bit of stick from Wigan fans in the past, he was strong all game and offloaded well, compare him to the error ridden Stuart Fielden who makes little yardage if any at all.

| Really enjoyed that game tonight, Saints were off their normal attacking game but their awesome defence made up for it. Wigan threw everything at them tonight but still couldn't get the win. How we know how that feels
Whenever Cunningham is on the field for Saints he picks them up, they will miss him when he retires.

| Thought the ref was absolute garbage he should be arrested for impersonating a match official,he must be after Ashleys crown. He tried his best to give the pies everything and they still failed .Thought the play on ,play on ,no play the ball ,penalty bit was pure comedy at its very best
Gleeson put in his usual 1 minutes worth of effort.
A second string Saints side were awesome in defense and a near full strength pie side looked clueless ,it is times like this that give you that warm feeling as you pee yourself laughing that they paid a 6 figure sum for someone who rarely turns up in matches

| If Trent Barrett was still at Wigan they would have won last night.
Saints gave Wigan so much ball in good field position last night it was a sin not to beat them; no matter how good Saint's goal-line defense was.

and if my aunty had a set she'd be my uncle
Truth is Wigan are a spent force (not saying we are any better at the moment) but you look at the team and it looks distinctly average

May be not but neither are Saints well known for throwing the ball straight into touch on their own 10m line from the base of a scrum.
The amount of invites Saints gave to Wigan last night, coupled with the apparent lethargy in your attack, I just think with a bit of guile Wigan should and would have scored enough to win the game.
End of the day they didn't and I for one am thankful for that. No matter what Saints, Leeds, Bradford or whomever win they will never be more dis-liked (possibly even hated) by myself than even the current, distinctively mediocre Wigan team/club is.
