| Does anyone who went to this game remember if any cameras were present as i`m just wondering if it was ever recorded ? I was at the game but like most i was in the Fletch and didn`t really notice at the time if any cameras were in the box on top of the old snookers.
Its a game i wouldn`t mind watching again as the atmosphere was superb that day and it was one of the best ever games to be played at Wilderspool. Ive checked Micron video and its not listed.
If anyone wants the 1989 Challenge cup semi v Wigan at Main Rd (The Joe Lydon drop goal game) then ive done the honours and you will know where to find it, i can`t give a link for obvious reasons.

| It was filmed for sure - wasn't the whole world cup shown on LIVE TV, a cable channel that went bust? They showed all the games and it was great coverage.
Top night. Wilderspool was rockin'!

| Great game and a brilliant atmosphere, such a shame that Tonga lost by a point after the Kiwi come back.

Could you pm where to look please. This was my first season watching the Wire and think this game was about the 5th I went. I seem to remember the crowd going silent as the ball left Lydons boot.

i thought the russia v america game was better, especially the look of shock on the americans face when the wire fans cheered for the russians!

| Yep top game, one of the best games I have seen not involving the Wire, and probably most neutrals at Wilderspool that day supported Tonga. Wire. I thought Tonga were on for the win, and what a performance from Duane Mann.
I do remember all matches were screened live on some sat channel as previously stated could have been Live TV
Re the Lydon drop goal, why would any Wire fan who was around at the time want to see that again ![Sad icon_sad.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_sad.gif)

| What I remember from the Tonga v NZ game was one of the Tongans ( may actually have been Salesi Finau) hitting Gene Ngamu in a tackle. One of those tackles that was borderline fair, borderline assault. Ngamu was carried off and they were picking bits of his teeth out of the turf for days afterwards.

| Don't remember if there were camera's there, but what I can remember was that the youth world cup was on at the same time so a lot of the Samoans, Tonga , Fiji and the like kids were there watching, what do they feed them over there every one of them were like brick out houses,
Would love to know if any of them made the top grade

| Great game!! One of the best for passion on the field and atmosphere from the stands, right up there with some Warrington classics.
My memory of it is the Prince of Tonga (at least I remember being told he was the Prince) running on the pitch with their national flag whenever Tonga scored...

| The Tonga Vs NZ game is one of my favourite memories of Wilderspool!!
I don't really remember much about the game as I was only young but the best part was getting to go into the changing rooms after the game and spending 10 minutes with my all-time hero - Duane Mann. I've got the photos of it lying around somewhere, I'll have to scan them in.

I'm sure this was on some TV channel. An absolute classic, one of the best games I ever saw at Wilderspool.
Russia v USA wasn't bad either, was that in the Emerging Nations Cup? Not sure why we were at that game, maybe there weren't many better things to do for a bunch of 12 year old lads at the time. Can't even remember who won that one.

I was at the game too. Didn't The Kiwi's win of a dodgy try or something?

| One of my all time Wilderspool games, on a Sunday evening as I remember. The referee did miscount the tackles in the last set when NZ scored. The great memory though is the Tongan team doing another haka at the end of the game to the crowd to thank them for their support. Class game, class occasion

Ha ha, remember that. Often the competitors would nearly take the referee's eye out... and some of the darts thrown were a bit wayward too ![Cool icon_cool.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_cool.gif)
