thank you! finally someone who sees sense!
fergie and almost every united fan would rather see wayne sit on the bench of the reserves freezing his tits off week in week out until he bought his own contract out by some stupid rule, than sell him to city!

| He wont be going to Barcelona. They are skint and would have to release him (or another major star(s)) in 2012

| Rooney will, go to City.
City will throw whatever they need to get him, the Glazers are mercenaries they don't care about not selling to whoever, they just want best price. They are only in it from what they can get.
To be frank who cares, Utd are a selling club until the Glazers go.

Now that's unfair. When Ferguson said he had an injury, Rooney came out and made it quite clear he didn't have an ankle injury. If he was a true scouser he'd have been down the benefit office milking his ankle for all it was worth in incapacity benefit.

| It's funny how Rooney wants to quit because he reckons he doesn't have guarantees that United will be able to sustain their past levels of performance. People at United were just starting to get the same doubts about Rooney.

| All these people claiming he wont be sold to another english club are as wide of the mark as you can be. Rooney holds all the aces in this situation. He wont leave the UK, not...a....chance. SO United have to sell him to whoever he wants to go to, or he will walk away for nothing in 18 months. When you have an asset worth circa £40m+ you are going to cash in

Everton are entitled to a % cut (believed to be 25%) of whatever profit United make over their initail outlay. So if he is sold for £25 million Everton get nothing. If he is sold for £50 million Everton get £6.25 million. I would guess he will be sold for £35 million at absolute best (if city get giddy and make a bid) meaning Everton will get £2.5 million. Hardly game changing sums.

Alex Ferguson will have no say in where he goes.
The deal will be done by the glazers.... and they will accept the bid that gets the club the most money.
Colleen has a very ill 12 year old sister as well...she wont be flying off to live in spain.
Rooney is going to stay in the north west..

I thought 25% of whatever he sold for was too good to be true!!
But even so, be it 2.5 million, that bought us Tim Cahill (1.5m), Joleon Lescott was only 2m initially. Lescott then got us £22million (i dont for one minute think hes worth that) and Cahill who is a £10m player. So if Moyes gets any cut, no doubt he will spend it wisely

Best manager in the league with money. Can only think of Kroldrup who he wasted a decent amount on.

Agreed, if anyone is going to spend it well, it is likely to be Moyes.

He wasted a fair bit on Andy Johnson who i think was around £8 million, Saha wouldn't have been cheap, Yakubu has generally been poor at Everton, he's had quite a few injuries as well. He played well at the weekend but you can count his good performances on one hand, his goal record has been poor at Everton considering what they paid for him.
James Beattie is another where i think they paid around £6 to £7 million for him, Richard Wright wasn't cheap as well back in 2002.

Saha was pretty much a free IIRC. They got a good fee back for Johnson and he did quite well. Yakubu has been decent when fit.

Andy Johnson, just 17 goals in 61 appearances for Everton... Hmmmm. As for Yakubu, he cost Everton over £11 million, thats a huge amount of money for Everton to spend on a player and the return should be a lot better than "decent when fit". He's scored just 24 goals in 73 league appearances.

| To be honest, I don't particularly want Rooney at City
He comes with a lot of baggage (Grannies, ladies of the night, attitude, his general off field behaviour)
His injuries are causing concern, having trouble shaking of an ankle injury. For a player who has pace as a big attribute, it's a worry.
Did he really gel with Muttley (Tevez) in their last season together?
He's not had 1 decent game since March
I'd like to see Balotelli given a long run in the side
I want Adebayor to get his lazy finger out, and prove his £25 mil transfer fee. At the moment, he simply isn't.
I don't want City to service United's debt.
Let Real have him

You're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think we'll get anywhere near them three. We've already had a chance of getting two of them on the cheap. But Fergies lies of the squad being good enough and no value in the market are coming home to roost. Take a look at the team from last night, that is the future for us.
Hopefully Rooneys comments will wake some of the ostriches in our support whether they are the real reason for him leaving or not.

| Let him rot in the reserves, no one player should be able to hold a club to ransom. United should keep him, force him to train with the 16s at 9pm at night and cut off all of his support structures.
Not a united fan but really stand on the clubs side in this, stroppy petchulant players and their agents have far too much power and are ruining the game.
Just like happened in the banking crisis, football is going to go bang with clubs like united, city, liverpool and newcstle going bust. The current debts and wage structure cant be continually allowed to rise at the rate that it is.

| There needs to be a salary cap brought in but only FIFA would be able to force it through, the Spanish, Italians and English would never willingly agree to it, in fact the 'big' clubs would probably carry out their threat of creating a super mega league, sod em, let them get on with it. FIFA should then ban all those players that want to be involved in the NEW league from all FIFA competiton which i'm sure would reign them in.
FIFA needs to pull its finger out, Blatter acts weak yet has the potential to change the game for the better so easily.

He will hardly be rotting though, he will be pocketing his high wages every week and laughing at United in the knowledge that if they do really burn their bridges by doing that, he will just wait until his contract expires in 2012, and given that he will be a free agent his ability to negotiate wages will be astronomical. If a club would be willing to pay £30m to Man United to get him, then if they wait till he's free and pay him a £25m sign on fee before they start looking at wages, then they're still £5m better off. Rooney knows the closer it gets to the end of his contract the more he maximises his own chunk of what his next club pay out for him, at the expense of what United will get. Sol Campbell did it to Spurs but he was careful not to burn his bridges until the end, by using the guise "I signed a contract and will honour it till the end"
