| Quote ="Lord Tony Smith"McDermott is an assistant. Monaghan isn't, he's the NSW head coach.
I wouldn't touch McDermott. Even Leeds fans don't rate him.
Just to throw another hat in to the ring, I would take Nathan Brown.'"
Leeds fan in peace.
Just on McDermott, if some of your players can't cope with criticism from Powell I think they'd have no chance with McDermott, he would tear them a new one - maybe that's what they need.
I really feel for you guys, Powell was brought in to change the culture and squad, and it's been a massive failure, which I think is a shame. He did this at Leeds in the early 00s but we realised that he wouldn't be the coach to actually finished the job and brought Tony Smith in. I do think Powell was and is vastly overrated and I don't think he was ever going to get you over the line in a GF, his coaching career is littered with choking in the big games, and I think heats the biggest shame is he's come in ripped the squad apart and actually left you guys in a worse position than when he came.
Hope you can get the right coach - a lot of Leeds fans have a downer on Rohan Smith but what he's trying to do is build the culture of the whole Rhinos Setup starting with bringing the Youth through, unfortunately that will take time but personally I can see the changes and I think it will bear fruit, I think that's what you guys need not a quick fix and throwing daft money at NRL players.

| Rowley's team have not won since the day before we last did. He's even less likeable than Powell.

With Middleton travelling to Australia, it looks odds on to me that we be recruiting a coach from the NRL.

| On Rowley
Whilst i thought Salford played some excellent rugby at the start of the season they have largely gone off the boil (same as us) and he has less credentials than Powell. It can only be somebody with experience for me. No more experiments or half baked coaches.

| Holbrook or Monas then. Both of em would be nice….or maybe that wouldn’t work. I’d be happy with either. I know Monas has little experience but he seems hard nosed and would command respect. Plus he could pick himself ahead of Dwyer.

| I don't understand some people's hostility on here towards Justin Holbrook. He came into Saints and turned a toxic environment into an incredibly positive environment really quickly. It strikes me that this is exactly what Warrington needs.

Agreed. Ex players like Wilkin etc always speak very highly of him. They were all in a rut before he arrived and he brought some fresh positivity about the place without the need for any clear out.

Is there much if any hostility to Holbrook? I’d imagine he’s the first choice of about 90% of Wire fans. There’s the odd John Kear fan out there of course but I think Holbrook signing would be greeted with almost unanimous positivity.

| Just for interest Holbrook is the 6/4 favourite with BetFred. Justin Morgan is 5/1 whilst Michael Monaghan is a big 25/1. Ducky can get odds off 100/1 for John Kear although I'm sure it should be 1000/1.

| Some interesting Names, I don't know much about some of the Aussie coaches. Not sure I would want Justin Morgan though. The 100-1 shot made me laugh.

| A name which is strangely missing from that list is Paul Anderson.
Remember when he was at Huddersfield, he improved them from where they'd been under Nathan Brown. Had them winning the League Leaders' Shield. Huddersfield! Nobody else has looked close to doing that. He had one bad half season and they sacked him.
Did Super League give up on him too early as a head coach?

| Surprised that Jason Ryles is not on that list. He is at the point where the next step would be head coach of a super league club before getting a head coaches job in the NRL.
Pretty sure he is back at the storm as assistant to Bellamy.

No he is at the Roosters now, he's agreed a deal for 2024 to return to Storm as assistant so he's a no go.

| Just stuck ÂŁ10 on Monaghan, not because I want him just that I like the 25/1 odds and a fair few on here would be happy for him to take the role.

| Anderson was our Academy head coach.
Maybe he doesn't want a head coaching role and prefers the development side. But given there are some coaches who bounce around from head coach job to head coach job and never seem to do very well I thought it was odd that Anderson just had one shot when he had been doing well.
Reminds me of John Pendlebury - remember he had Halifax 3rd in the league and a year later he was done never to be seen again as a head coach.

| If we can't get Holbrook now, then let Chambers have a run until the end of the year and take our time.
Holbrook turned Saints around in a few months and were a whisker off (drop goal extra time) the GF in 2017 beaten by LLS winners Castleford coached by Powell. :-S
