Wasnt Watkins at Latchford Albion? I think he played service area for Warrington but Leeds signed him professionally.

These are some of the players that can make the step up, not necessarily all are ready right now, but some are already knocking on the door and my only question was that if we are to progress like Saints and Leeds we need to start integrating these young players into the first team environment, where they can develop.

Well Evans and Shaw have been training with the first team so that is exactly what Smith is doing.

They're 16 years old and there's a big difference between 16 and 19 physically. It would be suicide to play schoolkids instead of the players who are currently getting picked.

They are making progress and going in the right direction. As they now have the Wolfpack squad.There have been other players who have trained with the first team, as well and more probably will. So at least we are going in the right direction and I am clearly not suggesting we put 16 year olds in. Which is why I said some are not ready obviously but some are knocking on the door.

The likes of Rhys Williams, Tyrone for example to name but two are knocking on the door and I would like to see us start giving some of these lads a run out. These two are physically ready and we won't know if capable unless we start giving them the occasional opportunity.

Who would you pick Rhys Williams ahead of to give him some experience on the wing? Carney? Hicks? King? Johnson? Riley? Penny?

Would it be Harrison, Westwood, Vinnie or Louis that you dropped to play Tyrone?

Its not about dropping players, some can be rested for part of a game or the odd game to give some of the players you want to bring through the opportunity, otherwise there is no point having youth development and as the new rules indicate over the next few years you have to have more and more homegrown talent in your team it makes sense to blood some, in some games. Its what St Helens are doing, I know some are because of injuries but Jonny Lomax who is only 18 got some game time and Wellens still played. You would soon want them developed if the above players get injured. My point is if you give them some game experience one you will find out what they are made of but also, it will benefit their game and the squad for warrington would have some strength and depth.

Kyle Eastmond has had first team experience for the last couple of years not just this year and has played along Long not just when injured and this will have benefited him. Its not about dropping players but interchanging when appropriate to develop as a club.

I also think we should be giving one of these youngsters a chance before Carney.....did okay yesterday but just not got the pace anymore.

Agree there, would rather see Penny or Williams on the wing than Brian Carney even though he is one of my favourite players.

I'd go for Louis Anderson. I just don't see why he was given a new contract.

Wasn't it John Bastian who spotted Kallum Watkins and took him to Leeds... well least he's on our side now and in years to come we will have top class youngsters in our first team.
