I was there yesterday. In the "smoke bomb" end. It came from behind me and it stank the place out (like firework smoke), but I didnt have a huge problem with it ruining my day. In fact, I'd forgotten about it after 2 minutes. People are far to OTT.

I just plain don't get why they do it though personally. It's not like an atmosphere generator. In fact, it's a good crowd clearing tool if anything. Bit odd.

i remember the hull game on that friday night away! huge fight on that hill, not what you want to see in rugby! and then at wembley 2 years ago, not saying its anyone of you people in who there on about but we seem to have a reputation for getting into little scraps at places, which are most of the drunken idiots, not the whole set of fans before anyone moans

Getting the club to sort them out would be self-policing. After all it is a Public Order offence to take flares to a sports ground AND its illegal to set a flare off in any circumstance other than "in distress". Could quite easily just get it "policed".

And whilst these smoke cannister types are not the same kind, a spectator was killed at a game once due to somebody setting off a flare which hit them. I wonder where the "they're just kids" side of the argument would draw the line?

banging a drum in someone's earhole for 80 mins is much worse than setting a flare off in my book.

Though both are not welcome at a game. A smoke bomb is a whole world different to a flare.

No, not having or go or anything. just wondering if you generally hate drums at sports games, or whether if the crowd was going mad like at one of the 'big' home games you wouldn't mind them.

Imagine the outrage at a few sectarian pro IRA songs being belted out.

I have indeed other teams give us a right personal drilling at times. Why sometimes they even sing songs referring to us as "scousers"

Those songs are annoying, because they are as inaccurate as they are when we sing them to Saints.

No, you're wrong. Someone after a few beers hasn't thought, 'this will be a good laugh.' Someone has brought the Flare into the stadium with the intention of setting it off. You simply can't defend it.

I think some of you must have been Peter Perfects in your youth.

I was near it and one of my kids is young. He was intrigued. I think sometimes a parents response to something can frighten a child.
Though I'm sure downwind it was unpleasant I think some need to get some perspective.

It's just the older generation. Because that never happened in 'their day' and they never needed drums to support. All they needed was a flat cap and a hand rattler. Now the support has changed I think they are just wary of it. Humans are creatures of habbit don't forget.

I don't want to see RL turn into the hoolaganism of European football, however I embrace the chants, flags and drums. The more noise the better IMO
