Most of the thousands who teem over bridges over the Thames every morning after leaving trains to sit at computers in the City could quite easily work from home. This would stop those with a low step up the greasy pole boasting to their chums in the wine bar " I have 50 people working for me* Maybe, but 48 of them could do the job at home.

I work from home and it's not easy believe me.

Particularly in winter you get very isolated and don't have any contact with people for hours at a time and if the weather is bad days can go by without leaving the house. From a mental health perspective it doesn't work for everyone.

Fortunately I have a 6 ft pink rabbit called Cyril who lives under the stairs and comes out to chat when everyone else is out, so he keeps me company. On Mondays we have cake and lemonade and watch Judge Rinder together.

The bog roll fiasco just come forms what my old man used to say that ‘98% of the general public are just thick’.

Herd behaviour only needs 20% of the public to be thick.
78% are just reacting to the 20% being thick.
The other 2% have no bog roll.

Who are the thickest. The 98% who cleared the shops of loo roll, or the 2% that didn’t?

Now, if your rabbit was white (in the interests of diversity, other colours won't work for this purpose) and called Harvey, I'd assume your name was James Stewart, and I would've claimed my £5. Mind you, James Stewart wouldn't be drinking lemonade with his friend, and I'd advise against the consumption of cake, as this promotes obesity. Try a Ryvita and tap water. Water in bottles is environmentally evil, and you'll get sneered at by Scandinavian schoolgirls.

The media banging on about it, with pictures of empty shelves, just encourages the masses to then follow suit.

Yes but we live in a country with a free press.

The Chinese dealt ruthlessly with people who were trying to spread news about the virus and I'm not sure I'd prefer to live in that society.

Although we may find that China was better able to contain the pandemic than Western free societies.

I think we're at the point now where we have to accept that Super League will be significantly disrupted this season. Coronavirus poses a risk to the players too - and although super fit athletes are probably at the low end of mortality risk, it might put a player out for a considerable amount of time, if they get a nasty bout of pneumonia with lung complications, and then need to get back to the level where they can play 80 minutes of professional rugby league.

So keeping the players out of risk of infection should be a priority.

With the big increase in cases in the UK I suspect we will see restrictions on the size of gatherings very soon. Northern Italy is virtually a 'laboratory experiment' now with regards to what happens if the infection rate is not controlled.
