Totally agree.
Gave too much ball away and penalties (there were high shots missed by ref too). Dragons kicking game better than ours.
Mostly a very poor performance with ball in hand, and only showed glimpses of what we can do. Two points thrown away.

| Best team won. Far too many errors with dire passes (the one that cannot be named), knock-ons and penalties. Game was there for the winning with 3 minutes to go and we still bombed both sets of 6 with handling errors (usual suspects)
Nice to see some fight in the squad but back to the training ground I think for skills work.
Also some players look like they are carrying a bit of timber.

| How we respond on Thursday will give us a good idea of where we're at. We have just played our poorest for a long time and nearly won away at Catalans outscoring them on the try front. Id hope we cannot play that badly again this season. Atkins could do with being dropped and a couple of others shouldnt feel safe....including Jack Hughes.

| First half from us was appalling. Handling errors everywhere, and at least 3 chances blown. Not surprising really when you consider the stupid travel arrangements. Early morning flight, airport hassle etc. How did anyone expected them to perform when they will obviously be tired. Second half was much improved, but Chris Hill is giving too many penalties away. Sam rat boy has taught his new team mates how to play for penalties and con the ref. Despite all that, an appalling decision by Hicks towards the end gave a penalty to Dragons for a ball strip near their own line. Even the commentators remarked that"it was a brave decision". That turned the result for me. A scrum near their line might have seen us steal the points.

Over to you messrs Price & Briers to earn your money & kick some ass before Thursday - and don't be frightened to drop a couple & shake things up, early in the season is the time to try it. Wouldn't be surprised to see King & Lineham out for Westwood & Mamo

| Tasi, King & Lineham can all sit Thursday out for me, and the rest get a barely deserved stay of execution.
Personally, I'm praying daily for an imminent and problem free return for Ben Currie - still our only forward with the X factor and skills to put most of the backline to shame.

Don’t buy this tired business. Not as though they’re up at 5 everyday working on a production line.Running around and in the gym most days is a job most of would love so this tired business I don’t get.Just an error strewn bad day at the office and despite playing poorly could have easily snatched it at the end.

| On the one hand people say don't knee jerk, on the other hand there's calling for players to be dropped "to send a message". What's the point of that, weakening the side for the next game just increases your chance of turning one defeat in to two. If a player is off the pace over a number of weeks then make a change but chopping and changing a strong side after one defeat is a bad idea.
Last season Wigan had plenty of off days through the season; Brian McDermott's Leeds did it all the time. Lets see where we are after 10 games, that will be a third of the way through the season and give us a chance to benchmark where we are.

| Always dissapointing to lose but it was by a single point, away at a tough place to go after giving the opposition a 14 point headstart. There are positives to take and if complacency was kicking in then a timely reminder that its going to be a tough season. Can't win them all or be at your best every week.
Very tough game on Thursday but we will have a point to prove now.

I think it's the attitude that's the problem. If the players give 100%, then everyone's happy, even if we lose. But, we've got (what seems like) a quality group of players who could and should be making more of a mark. Let's be honest about the Leeds game: second half we drew 6-6 after a strong first half. Huddersfield, we were up 30-12 with 10 mins to go, only to concede 2 tries at the end. For me, this continued into the start of the Catalans game, leaving us 15-0 down after 20 minutes. The players will probably turn up against Cas-but it's not good enough.
They should be better than to choose their games. I only watched the cats game on sky and aside from the 5 min delay (South African RU- not impressed with sky)- we looked disinterested, until 20 mins in when it was obvious the players felt like they had to give a sh@t
I was really looking forward to seeing us play. But, I felt really sorry for the Wire fans who'd made the effort. From the word go, our players didn't want it enough, and it was obvious. We've had some great players play for us over many years in recent times- better players man for man against our opposition. But there's no killer instinct. It's as if the players care a bit, but not that 10% more to make a difference. That 10% more wins finals- like Leeds and Wigan. Shaun Wayne would have absolutely bollocked those players after conceding 2 tries at the end of the Huddersfield game. After all the domination in the first half against Leeds, it ended up 6-6. We need to call NASA to give a bloody rocket boost up their back sides. Price needs to put his fist down and drop players. Get Westwood in for a start- even though he's 37, he sets the tempo better anyone and gets stuck in. Get Akualola on the bench to come on. Get the forward platform set and Austin and the backs will flourish.
Anyhow, rant over. I'm not working tomorrow so I can enjoy a nice hangover. COYW.
