I liked Simon Gillies too, thought he was underrated.

......and based upon those Ive seen playing, going a long way back to 1963, I'd include Bobby Fulton. I did see B Bevan play, but only in a friendly when he was about 50 so I'm not sure that counts.

Maybe my memory isn't so good, but i seem to recall gillies being absolute gash. That said, i've tried to wipe most of van de velde's reign from my mind. Anyway, Mann and Burns were my favourites.

And the Andrew Johns game v Leeds is probably
the best for atmosphere/tension drama etc ,
was drained after that one.

I can remember Dave Wright, played in 73-74 and was Second Row with Mike Nicholas at Wembley, absolute tackling machine. Anyone remember the Centre who played in the next season, I think his name was John Grant.

My point was in relation to Gillies. Having said that those who idolise Burns and Mann, whilst not bad players, havent seen Warrington play for long enough to talk about them in terms of best imports with the likes of Blake, Boyd et al - its rediculous.

I'm half suprised not see see Brent Grose on the list.

In my 25 years watching, Mann is up there in my all-time favourites list.

Flop all you want, my point was beyond SL. I'm at a loss that you describe Mann as a workaday, as he has been the best hooker I have ever witnessed play for us.

The topic isn't about best imports, but people's favourites. Wire fans have a knack of idolising some pretty average players, but you can't stop people having their favourites. The very first post mentioned farrar, which i found laughable, but each to their own.

Which is why my list would include Toa and Nutley.

I think for what he did in a pretty poor side it's got to be.... Nat Wood for me.

He was just a warrior. Tough as nails, agile, could break the line frequently & popped up with try's. Loved him.

Me too, that's why I mentioned Toa. First time around, I thought he was brilliant to watch. Even the high tackles & all, it added to it for me, I used to gasp when he was within 10m of the ball with it in hand or not.

And why HE wouldn't be on my list. I know he was funny and all that, and a real trier, but I never really took to him.

jerome guisset also. gave his all, and judging on the reception he gets whenever we play les cats, still a bit of a crowd favorite

He played one game at Hull KR if I remember correctly and had to be taken off at half time because he was that cold!!!
