| 1st Game about 1959
This is not easy. But first three I have no problems with. I have put playing for many years and carrying the side as important.
1.Brian Bevan (I was right in corner with sister when he scored final try v Leigh)
2.Parry Gordon
3.Lee Briers
Fourth I'm struggling with ... Jonathon Davies, Alex Murphy, Alfy Langer and Bobby Fulton (sorry I don't think he played for a full season ... edited later). I'll go for Davies.
You might guess that I was a half-back.

| I'm a Wigan fan and based on the premise of who you are frightened of the most usually means being the best I would go for (in no order)
John Bevan
Alex Murphy ( didn't have the privilege to see him in pomp and he was still awesome in his latter playing years)
Parry Gordon - without a doubt the best player ever to not gain full international honours
Mike Gregory - not a Wigan biase but he always always played well against us and I will never forgot his near length of the field try against the Aussies.
Before my time but from comments and anecdotes from my dad I would loved to have seen Brian Bevan, Jackie Edwards and Gerry Helme.
Not a "great" but one Warrington player would played every game as if his life depended on it was Paul Cullen. A fantastic team player and the type of player who unfortunately is very often not given the credit they deserve

If I had to include a forward in the list then the first thought is Morley but possibly Chris Hill would edge him out?

My favourite four (not necessarily the best because that's subjective):
Jonathan Davies
Lee Briers
Adrian Morley
Brett Hodgson
In all honesty I only really warmed to Briers after Smith came in. I enjoyed going the match in the first 15 years of my personal "era" as much as I do now, probably moreso, but apart from Davies who was genuinely on another level, it's the players who have achieved success in our colours that I have the greatest appreciation for. Both Monaghans, Matt King and Chris Hicks would be my next four.

| First game 1978, touring Aussies ............... not a bad introduction!
Sir Les Boyd - inspirational
John Woods - utter, sublime genius
Mike Gregory - a SL forward long before Super League
Allan Bateman - class, the complete centre

| Can I just raise a point about Bateman, especially regarding being the complete centre. I love batman...he was a class act but he was eternally frustrating in that he NEVER backed himself when clear and rarely put his winger away with a beatifully timed pass. Batman had all the tools but to me lacked a great rugby brain. Can never be classed as a complete centre in my eyes
