A general bad vibe between the sides today, not sure why as these games are usually played in good spirit. Smith says in his post match interview (on Guardian site) that he also received abuse in the stand and that is not acceptable.

We seemed to get sucked into Huddersfield's physical / rough play and it didn't help us.

Another game we should have closed out.

Reading on Twitter that a Wire player spat in a Hudds player's face then later reading that England spat at Brough and threw a bottle (don't know if that means at Brough or what). Also read that Bridge was taking on 3 Hudds players (one of which I guess was Crabtree).

There was a decent amount of biff. Great thinking from England to take their kicker out for ten minutes just before he attempted a kick at goal, shame the understudy kicked it anyway.

Other thoughts:
1. George King should definitely take all our kick offs.
2. Atkins try should never have been chalked off, the ball was knocked out by a Hudders player.
3. Let's buy a half back.

Nobody spat at anyone, bridge was fighting and ended up with 4 on him , England waded in , it got split up, then brough said something to England, bit of a scuffle , linesmen got between them,, then Bentham gave them the bin to cool down , as they went back brough was gobbing off all way to dug out, England had enough and squirted him with water and threw the water bottle at him,, Chris hill separated them, there was no spitting involved,,

that from the wire "headhunters"......

Really smart, he may miss next week and the understudy kicked two drop goals to put us out of reach too....

He said "physical/rough play", not dirty.

Brough was waiting to kick the goal and England came back for more and the touchy had to intervein

Bentham showed he didn't have a clue and binned them both when it was all England causing the problem

Bentham was the instigator in all this- the numerous high shots by wire went unpunished - bridge lost it completely and England was in the way of the conversion and refusing to move. It was at that point the spit occurred- Poor game handling by Bentham all round- the fact he continued to play on whilst a wire player was knocked out motionless on the ground for a number of plays shows how clueless he was.

I think Paul Anderson has to take some credit for getting the best out of his team once again ,there aren't any superstars but they play as a team & they obviously do their homework on the opposition which is an option available to us that we don't seem to make use of.
I really thought Stef looked out of sorts today but the greatest difference between the 2 sides was Danny Brough who seems now to have a better nal of kicks at his disposal than even Lee Briers did.

As was Huddersfield knock ons , offside, not square, Atkins try was a try came from a Huddersfield knock on,, it was a game where winner takes all in 4th place,, 2 similar teams, separated by a great kicker in brough,, but as for wire high shots,, you must be wearing stevie wonder glasses on!!

Been informed by someone who was listening to the game on the radio that the commentator stated England spat at brough. Plenty of those in the stand saw it. Spitting is a Grade E offence.....

Was brough taking his kick from middle of pitch,, I think not,, he was choppsing way before the kick was taken tight to touch line,, 4 Huddersfield players taking cheap shots at Bridgey was the problem, England just wasn't willing to stand and watch,,
But there was GOB incident, Dwyer and Clark nearly speared,,
Typical it's every body else's fault,,

We will see after the report is issued,, but brough would have even more of an obnoxious reaction if England had spat on him,,

What a crock of e, Wire lost cos they got out bullied, They don't like it when a team stands up to them like today and like Hull did in the Cup (was it year before last) great to see us finally give some stick back, England is a disgrace, to see a RL player spit at a fellow pro amazes me. ATEOTD the best team won and that is a refreshing change with Bentham in charge, strange how all the fighting started when Wire went behind, maybe coincidence

He spat at him, saw it clearly and then did it again, nearly hitting the touch judge before a Wire player pulled him away, disgusting behavior and deserves a long ban.

i thought he took over from bentham at one point

i think you did succumb to niggling easily, however the rough stuff was instigated by bridge and england, things had been fine before then, for Eorl to get riled like he did and to start windmilling then something must have gone on!

i've also heard reports of a wire player spitting at a giants player, despicable if true!

i think there could be some bans and fines coming for players from both teams this week.

for me wire seemed to be in total control of the game at 19-12 but then seemed to be more interested in getting the upper hand in the niggle stakes.

but i will take a league double, cheers

i thought it looked like England had to be dragged away by the wire trainer, all i saw was both of them mouthing at each other then England trying to get at broughy but tv tony and his trusty flag saved the day!

as for bridge, it appeared that he blindsided someone when the officials were concentrating on the try being scored, which appeared to incense big eorl, who is usually pretty mild mannered.

but i didn't have a clear view as i was celebrating the try.

he was sin binned for repeated punching, few of them connected as well, but it was a bad challenge by connor and not needed IMO
