| Unfortunately James Mendieka has dislocated his elbow.
Hope it isn't too serious and he recovers quickly.

Looks like a very serious one and extremely painful.
Best of luck to James for a quick as possible recovery.

It will give him more Super League experience which will be good fro his development long term.
Quite a few players look likely to go out on loan.

Who would you drop? Not disagreeing but it's difficult to bring in new faces when we're unbeaten, knocking about around the top 2 and have lost 1 of our last 20 odd games.

My only gripe was how we used the Challenge Cup last year.
I don't see any reason to play full blooded sides against Swinton etc, winning 112-0 did nothing for me. Should we get these sort of fixtures this year and I'd much rather 48-10 with a side featuring a few of the young lads and some experience who need the game/currently out of the 17 etc. I think we had a couple of these lob-sided games last year, when people talk of too many games etc, I'm not sure why we took them so seriously.
Other than that, I agree really. Look at Riley & Evans, Evans was in - London at home was the best I've seen him play in a Warrington shirt, slight tweak in traning, Riley gets 4 in 2 matches, gets a big pat on the back from Smith and you can't see Evans getting back anytime soon.

I wouldnt be dropping anyone per say.
When injurys occur or when players need a break then what harm would it do throwing one of these young lads in.
Monas being a case in point, why not give Brad Dwyer ago. Apparantly he has been going very well in the under 20's. Smith has decided to put Higham back in who has been out injured for a few weeks himself and may very well be rusty. Surely Dwyer is the future whilst Higham may not be here much longer.
No point in producing your own talent if they arent given an opportunity. My concern is that all this talent may end up elsewhere simply due to lack of opportunity.
On the otherhand maybe Tony doesnt think these boys are good enough for SL just yet. Maybe people who report on the under 20's are over egging their quality. Given the results they are churning out though I wouldnt have thought this would be the case.

| My concern is the lack of quality opposition for the young lads. Some of them could be in the position of not quite being ready for 1st team opportunities, yet being way too good against the teams that they face each week. A bit of a no mans land if you like.

With Wire's squad no-one is guaranteed 27 appearances. Tony Smith has a fine record of bringing through local talent - most of the Leeds first teamers came through the junior ranks when he was there. We will never be able to keep every single Academy player, but I don't think many of them will be complaining yet about lack of SL opportunities.

Is that true though?
Who did Smith bring through at Leeds? McGuire, Burrow, Sinfield, Diskin etc were all first teamers before he got there. I think Hall was after he'd gone (I think).
I'm not actually sure who came through during his tenure and I'm not saying he won't bring them through whilst at Warrington, to date you'd have to say really that he's brought through who, Evans? He's the only one really that he's promoted, Williams at a push. Others have become a little more established like Cooper & Blythe.

| Some excellent tries in there, some very slick handling and great movement.
Who's the lad who got the 1st try and set up Evans for his try in the 2nd half?

Bradford player went off from that with what looked like a dislocated shoulder.

With all due respect, didn't Higham get man of the match replacing monaghan?
Inspired team selection or maybe don't give Higham credit when it's due?

So far this season we have used 23 of our 25 man first team squad (the two not used so far are O'Brien and Solomona). Of the 23, 12 are either full products of our Academy or were signed as teenagers. Pretty good balance there I would say of bringing through young players topped up with experienced signings from elsewhere. That is just over 50% - a ratio that has hugely increased over the past few years and I expect will continue to increase in the next few years.
Of course, a highly successful youth development programme inevitably means for every one player that makes it there will be several that don't but as long as the best ones are allowed to come through (as they have been) then great.

Could you please keep the paragraph in red handy for the next time a Werthers Original eating Wiganer mentions that we employ players who are 30 plus? THanks.
